Nerds United Episode 170: Disney Remakes and the Robat Batinbatmobile

This week on the show, Greg and Mike are talking about Disney’s live-action remakes, which ones are coming up and if we’re excited for them.

Get a lesson of the bad ideas from pro wrestling gimmicks, hear about the original Jigsaw, and the Batmobile in all of its gearhead glory!

Greg and Chad’s Power Half Hour Episode 9: Comic Books

This week on the Power Half Hour, Greg and Chad discuss discovering comic books, and how we went about collecting them. And at some point, Greg starts talking for about 15 minutes non-stop, which would be great, except it’s only a 30-minute podcast. But Chad knew what he was getting into when he agreed to co-host a half hour show.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 276: 2 is Greater Than 1

Stride Pro Wrestling heads to the Saline County Fairgrounds on Saturday, March 14 for Strideiversary. It’s the four-year anniversary for Stride. Owner  Tyler ‘Heath’ Hatton joins me on this week’s 2 is Greater than 1 to talk more about the company.

We also offer up our thoughts on Goldberg winning the WWE Universal Champion, John Cena’s return to WrestleMania and the future of ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt.

Nerds United Episode 169: Hairy Cavill as Wolverine?

This week on Nerds United, Mike and Greg explore the rumors of Henry Cavill being cast as Wolverine in Captain Marvel 2, which leads into discussion about The Witcher, Locke and Key, and Man of Steel.

Also, Dynamite Thor (that’s a real thing), and being Belleville’s Number One Podcast.

Greg and Chad’s Power Half Hour Episode 8: Rock Dog

This week on Not My Demographic, we watched and discuss the 2016-17 animated feature…Rock Dog!

That’s pretty much it. Oh wait, there’s a guest appearance at the end of the movie, and while it’s not part of Rock Dog, the guys discuss Kay and Silent Bob Reboot!

Enjoy.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 275: Wrestling with the 80s

I apologize in advance as I had to call an audible this week. My scheduled co-host couldn’t be on the show and it was late in the game, so I decided to record a quick show alone.

Since it is Wrestling with the 80s, I decided to follow up on a show Greg Mehochko and Chad Smart recently did on Greg & Chad’s Power Half Hour. When did you know wrestling wasn’t ‘legit’?

Stride Pro Wrestling heads to Johnston City High School on Saturday, Feb. 22 and Carterville (1130 N. Division St.) on Saturday, Feb. 29. You can get all the details here.

Nerds United Episode 168: Reboot Reviews, Rivers, and “Robat Batinbat”

In the past week, both Greg and Mike have had the opportunity to watch Jay and Silent Bob Reboot! And in this episode, you can hear long form what the guys thought about Kevin Smith’s latest work.

(You can watch Greg’s short version right here)

We also talk about Nemesis, Playstation 5 being outrageously priced, and Mike names all of the world’s rivers. So we have that!

Oh, let’s not forget the latest images of Robert Pattinson as The Batman.

Greg and Chad’s Power Half Hour Episode 7: When We Learned Pro Wrestling was a Work

Oops. I should’ve said “SPOILER ALERT!”

But here’s the thing…you know by now that pro wrestling is a pre-determined athletic competition which takes skill to master.

All we’re doing in this episode is going through our memories and discussing when we learned and/or realized that maybe what happens in a 20×20 (or 16×16, for you WCW fans) ring wasn’t always completely on the up and up. Ah to be young again!

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 274: Wrestling Under the Influence

This month’s Wrestling Under the Influence is a fun one for me. I get the chance to share a beer with my dad and talk all about Wrestling at the Chase. My dad (and I) grew up in St. Louis, so Wrestling at the Chase was a staple for him as a teenager and I watched early on in my fandom before the show went off the air.

We also drink Love Gun by Heavy Riff Brewing in St. Louis. My dad doesn’t drink much outside of the Busch family so introducing him to new craft beers has been fun.

Nerds United Episode 167: Skeletar?

You’re going to have to listen to the podcast to understand it.

Greg and Chad’s Power Half Hour Episode 6: Dear John

Dear John Letter:

NOUN
informal
  1. a letter from a woman to a man, especially a serviceman, terminating a personal relationship.

Before ghosting was a common way to end a relationship, people actually wrote letters to dump someone. Author Nicholas Sparks used that premise to craft a romantic story that Lasse Hallstrom turned into a movie starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried in 2010.

On this edition of the “Not My Demographic” series, Greg and Chad watch “Dear John” and eventually get around to talking about the movie.  Does the movie hold up after ten years? How does it compare to “The Notebook?” How does Soul Asylum and Deadwood,  South Dakota fit into the discussion?  Take 30 minutes out of your day to listen and find out.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 273: The Valentine’s Day Show

Since Valentine’s Day is happening this week, I decided to do a couples episode of the podcast. So my usual co-host for 2 is Greater Than 1, Tyler ‘Heath’ Hatton and his fiancee Rachel joined my wife, Lisa, and I for this week’s show. We talk about fandom and how important it is for the family to support indy wrestling too.

Speaking of Stride, we’re at Johnston City High School on Saturday, Feb. 22 and at Carterville (1130 N. Division St.) on Saturday, Feb. 29. You can get all the details here.

Let us know what you think of this episode on the My 1-2-3 Cents Facebook page or follow along on Twitter and Instagram (@my123cents). You can also subscribe to the My 1-2-3 Cents blog and YouTube channel. And follow the Jittery Monkey Facebook page for updates too. Thanks!

Nerds United Episode 166: Y Not The Last Man and Desert Island Movies

Heeeeey we’re back. After taking a couple weeks off to get healthy (damn germs), we are off and running!

If you had one fictional character’s movie to take with you on a deserted island, who would you choose? That’s part of this week’s discussion, as well as 90s cartoons, Y: The Last Man losing its’ lead actor, Mother Hubbard, and Rick Moranis.

Strap yourselves in for a comedy ride you won’t ever forget! It’s Nerds United with Greg and Mike.

Greg and Chad’s Power Half Hour Episode 5: After School Cartoons

This week on the Power Half Hour, Greg and Chad go back to after school and look at cartoons that they watched in their respective generations, Chad in the 1980s and Greg from the late 80s and on.

If it was a popular cartoon in the last two decades, there’s a good chance we mention it. We love cartoons.

Be sure to subscribe if you don’t already. We are growing and it’s because of you!

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 272: Paging Dr. Hatton…

What a year 2020 has already been for my co-host Tyler Heath Hatton. He appeared as a medical staff member on Monday Night Raw on Jan. 13, 2020. He assisted both R-Truth and Women’s Champion Becky Lynch.

This isn’t Tyler’s first dabble with WWE. We talked all about that in the previous episode of ‘Two is Greater Than 1’. Listen to the archives. We also talk about how his WWE experiences impact his role with Stride Pro Wrestling.

Thanks!

Greg and Chad’s Power Half Hour Episode 4: Kensho at the Bedfellow

It’s Thursday and that means 30 minutes with Greg and Chad. This week, the guys talk about a 2017 indie movie titled Kensho at the Bedfellow.

I’m not going to lie – it’s a weird movie. And at times it makes no sense. And it’s not at all a geisha kink like the title would indicate.

But while this movie didn’t blow our hair back, it wasn’t too bad. And if you have the Tubi (or not to be?) app, you can watch it for free. And that’s how you should enjoy Kensho at the Bedfellow, without giving up any of your hard-earned dollars.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 271: Wrestling with the 90s

The new year always means it’s time for the best pay-per-view event of the year, the Royal Rumble. We’re keeping the tradition alive of chatting about past Rumbles here on the podcast. This week, my guest co-host is Luke Lay, the co-host of the greatest Royal Rumble parties I’ve ever attended…

Royal Rumble Party

This year we break down the 1990 Rumble and the build to the match at WrestleMania VI between Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior.

Stride Pro Wrestling returns on Saturday, Feb. 1 at Central Junior High School in West Frankfort. This is a fundraiser for the school’s PTA. Check out Stride’s website for more details.

Nerds United Episode 165: Lady Satan, Obi-Wan, and a Broken Truck

Well it’s time for a brand new episode of your favorite podcast (at least, if we are, leave a rating and review on your favorite podcast app).

Mike and Greg talk about Lady Satan, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, Captain Marvel, and Mortal Kombat (whoa, I almost spelled that with a “C,” like some sort of noob).

We also have some great discussions based on your questions. And if you’d like to ask a question, just hit us up on Facebook, Twitter, or nerdsunitedpodcast@gmail.com

Enjoy. Be kind. Rewind.

Greg and Chad’s Power Half Hour Episode 3: The 1992 Dream Team

Sports Illustrated dubbed them the Dream Team almost a year before they ever stepped on the court in Barcelona for the 1992 Olympic Summer Games.

Then the best players at the highest level of basketball went on to trounce their competition by an average of 44 points per game en route to the gold medals.

In this episode, Greg and Chad recall that epic summer of U-S-A (U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!) domination on the basketball court.

Nerds United Episode 164: Travis Yates and Nostalgia

In this special mid-week episode of Nerds United, we bring back Travis Yates. We hear a bit more about Travis’ bona fides in the realm of media and journalism and get a brief update on what’s going on over on Popology 101 on the Positive Cynicism Podcast Network (the #PCPN, if you will).

This discussion largely centers on nostalgia and the continued reboots/remakes of beloved IP’s of our youth. Greg calls it “nostalgia mining,” ie – the best parts of our youth sold off to the highest bidder. Travis thinks that it’s actually not the worst thing in the world, and how a little blast from the past can be a good thing.

Of course, there’s a brief review of the “Nostalgia” drug in the Watchmen series, hence why we get this classic artwork. Nostalgia and the theft of our youth. Are you for it or against it?

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 270: Wrestling Under the Influence

Welcome to the first episode of Wrestling Under the Influence this decade! I’m joined by Ryzer, from Stride Pro Wrestling. He and I enjoy the Unfiltered Wheat American Classic by Boulevard Brewing Company. We pair this beer with the ‘American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes and his son, the ‘American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes.

Stride returns on Saturday, Feb. 1 at Central Junior High School in West Frankfort. This is a fundraiser for the school’s PTA. Check out Stride’s website for more details.

Nerds United Episode 163: Trailers and Other Stuff

Welcome to the first episode of a new year. And no, it won’t be a 14-hour episode. We’ve decided that IF we do a marathon recording, it will only be thirteen hours and five minutes…give or take.

But who has that type of time?

Oh yeah, our friends at ABCD-Bagz.

Anyway, since it’s been a few weeks since our last episode, we’re getting caught up on some geeky trailers that have dropped since the ball in Times Square. Bloodshot, Morbius, Harley Quinn, Black Widow, and more news and notes.

Greg and Chad’s Power Half Hour Episode 2: She-Devil

This week on Greg and Chad’s Power Half Hour, the guys roll out the debut of the Not My Demographic series, with a discussion about the 1989 cinematic experience known as She-Devil.

Listen to the guys break down the film that they normally wouldn’t watch, and honestly that they didn’t even hear about.

And find out why this particular movie was selected as the first Not My Demographic. There’s a pretty solid reason behind it.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 269: The Interview(s)

We’re hopping into the way back machine for this week’s episode. For circumstances beyond my control, I am sharing some old interviews I did with Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan, Buff Bagwell and Ray Traylor prior to a 1998 Thursday Night Thunder event.

Enjoy this QUICK episode and get ready for next week as we ‘Wrestle Under the Influence.’

Greg and Chad’s Power Half Hour Episode 1: NYE 1999 and Y2K

Welcome to Greg and Chad’s Power Half Hour. In our debut episode, recorded twenty years and five days after the events of December 31, 1999. What were Greg and Chad doing on that fateful night when planes were supposed to fall from the sky and computer networks were going to shut down, leaving us in a veritable dark age?

You’d be surprised to learn, as we were, that your two hosts were only about fifteen minutes apart, but they wouldn’t meet for almost fifteen years.

New Years Eve 1999. It’s the topic of the very first Greg and Chad’s Power Half Hour. 30 minutes. No more. No less.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 268: 2 is Greater Than 1

In the world of professional wrestling, WWE is still considered the ultimate place to work.  This week, my co-host Tyler ‘Heath’ Hatton and I discuss his tryout with the company and some advice he has for all aspiring pro wrestlers.

Greg and Chad’s Power Half Hour Trailer

Coming soon to the Jittery Monkey Podcast Network and earbuds worldwide:

Greg and Chad’s Power Half Hour.

Greg Mehochko and Chad Smart hope to entertain you by discussing big moments (from 1982 on) from their different generational perspective. The duo will also take a look at and talk about movies, music, and other aspects of pop culture that they wouldn’t normally endure, all in a 30-minute presentation.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 267: The Centies

As 2019 comes to a close it’s time once again to reflect on the year in wrestling. And what a year it was. Admittedly it’s hard to keep up with it all, but Chad Smart (from the PCPN) and I discuss the year as well as the past decade.

Nerds United Episode 162: #AskNerdsUnited

This week on a very special episode of Nerds United (your last until January 10), we take your questions and do our best to provide worthwhile answers.

Thanks to Eddie Spaghetti, ABCD-Bagz, Rick, Paul, and Chad for some great questions! Have a question for us? You can ask it anytime at nerdsunitedpodcast@gmail.com

Five Heart Podcast Episode 157: Volleyball Is Pretty Amazing

The other guys took the episode off… and LEFT ME IN CHARGE!

It’s a bad idea. I’m horrible at the intro. I’m horrible at the outro. Hopefully I got the audio right. [Editor’s Note – Jon did a great job. And “Five Heart is all the Heart you need.” – GM]

I am joined by Jill and Beth and we talk a lot about volleyball.

These are just few of the wonderful things we discussed:

  • The Big Ten will be really tough again next year
  • John Cook – how old he is and how long he’ll coach
  • Who might replace John Cook as the next head volleyball coach at Nebraska
  • And a couple of guesses on who might be the new assistant coach to replace
  • Kayla Banworth becoming yet another Cook assistant to get a Division I head coach position

Also…. Beth tells us a lot of technical details about how hard players can hit a volleyball. I make comparisons to college pitchers and how they might have three good pitches. A hitter in volleyball can have over 20 different ways she can hit the ball. Maybe 40!

Nerds United Episode 161: Hemingway, Stache Publishing, and Christmas

This week on a very special Nerds United, Greg is joined by longtime friend of the show Anthony Mathenia. The two talk about the life and death of Stache Publishing and how projects that began before its untimely ending will see fruition.

One of those projects that is near and dear to Anthony’s heart is a graphic novel based on the life and times of Ernest Hemingway.

https://www.instagram.com/p/By5R90xh-uO/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet

Among other topics discussed is a brief Star Wars cartoon that Anthony worked on with Miljenko (an excerpt from the Hemingway graphic novel is visible above). And we talk about Christmas and share a few stories, since Anthony hasn’t been celebrating Christmas too terribly long.

Merry Christmas and/or the holiday of your choosing, everyone!

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 266: Wrestling with the 80s

Oh, the 80s. What a magical decade. The rise of pro wrestling started then and the world was introduced to WWF Superstars they could hold in their hand. The LJN collection is by far my favorite. So this week, my guest co-host Brian Juvers and I dig deep into the line and share our favorite memories of these figures.

Nerds United Episode 160: Texas Tornado of Awesome

This week, Mike and Greg are joined for a little while by fellow podcasters Kevin Hunsperger and Chad Smart. The guys talk about podcasting and their respective shows, as well as BREAKING NEWS for the Jittery Monkey Podcast Network.

After Chad and Kevin are dismissed, the Nerds United duo discusses Watchmen and Joker.

Also, despite what you may have seen from other online reviews, Kevin and Chad both appeared to enjoy Star Wars Episode IX: Rise of Skywalker.

Five Heart Podcast Episode 156: Early Signing Day

This past week was the Early Period for football players to sign their National Letters of Intent.

And the Nebraska Cornhuskers KICKED.SOME.ASS!

Rick Cone, Corn Nation’s Recruiting Guru, joins the Five Heart Podcast to talk about all of the hits that Nebraska received. There were some surprises. There was some drama. But roster needs were addressed.

Who’s N?

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 265: Wrestling Under the Influence

It’s Christmas time and what better way to celebrate the holidays than with an ice-cold beer? That’s exactly what we’re doing on this week’s Wrestling Under the Influence. Former Stride Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion Red Daniels and I drink Abita’s Christmas Ale and swap stories about Mick Foley.

The former hardcore Superstar is now known as Saint Mick to many. We talk about Foley’s transition from a wrestling icon to a Christmas icon.

Nerds United Episode 159: Movie Trailers and Recipes

This is our first true NU episode since Turkey Before Turkey. And we missed a lot in the week we spent with family.

Trailers for Black Widow, Wonder Woman, Ghostbusters: Afterlife. We talk some recipes for Mike to prepare for another UFC Fight Night.

Also, Watchmen and The Mandalorian.

And I finally picked up Dark Horse Comics’ The Butcher of Paris, written by Stephanie Phillips. Check out my chat with her in the archives.

I think that’s it. It’s late. I probably forgot something.

Oh yeah – who could forget Doctor Hormone?

Five Heart Podcast Episode 155: Pantsless Paul

This week on the Five Heart Podcast, Greg and Jon are joined by Paul Dalen to discuss the news and notes of Husker athletics. The guys talk about the arrests of two indefinitely suspended Huskers. Also on the docket, Nebraska Football – did the stats lie to us?

Among the other topics of conversation, Greg is young but not too young to remember Superman III (the Richard Pryor one). And Paul thinks Marvel is better than DC, er go Paul is wrong. (Agree or disagree? Paul wants to know in the comments.)

And there’s a cameo appearance by one of the Internet’s first celebrities.

Nerds United Episode 158: Talking Letterkenny

This week on the show, I invite my friend Patrick Gerhart on to talk about one of our favorite shows, and probably the best thing to come out of Canada since hockey…Letterkenny.

Patrick and I have been talking about getting this conversation recorded for a few months, and with Season 8 of Letterkenny set to arrive on Christmas (in Canada, on December 27 for us in the States), it was a fitting time to get together.

We share some of our favorite scenes and characters, as well as a little backstory on the show. It would be a great honor to have a cast member or writer on the show sometime, so if you’re reading this and have anything to do with Letterkenny, please send an email to nerdsunitedpodcast@gmail.com.

That’s it. Thanks Patrick. Pitter patter, let’s get atter.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 264: The Curly Shuffle

This week’s podcast is important to me for a couple of reasons. First, it’s the five year anniversary of My 1-2-3 Cents the podcast. It was on Dec. 9, 2014, that the ‘pilot’ episode dropped. Huge thanks to everyone who listens as well as to Greg Mehochko for inviting me to be a part of the Jittery Monkey Podcasting Network.

The second reason I’m excited is that my co-host, Heath Hatton, and I are recapping what is the biggest night in Stride Pro Wrestling history. The AAPW Resurrection show drew a record 600+ crowd and it was all for former wrestler Dan ‘Curly’ Summers. Thank you to everyone who attended and please enjoy the podcast.

The 2nd annual Stride Pro Wrestling/My 1-2-3 Cents Pro Wrestling Action Figure Toy Drive is underway now. If you donate $5 or a new wrestling action figure you will be entered into a drawing for an autographed Four Horsemen poster. If you’re not in the area, you can PayPal me kevinhunsperger@gmail.com. You’ll receive one entry for every $5 donated. I will then use that money to buy figures from Five Below.

Five Heart Podcast Episode 154: Volleyball is a 5-Seed, and Football Too

This week on the Five Heart Podcast, Greg, Jon, and Hoss talk about the fifth-straight loss to that team from the east. Five straight. In a game we should have won.

But the second half of the show is spent talking about a good Nebraska athletic program, the #5-overall seed in the NCAA Volleyball Tournament which starts today. Beth Merrigan returns to talk volleyball.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 263: 2 is Greater Than 1

This month Kevin and Tyler continue to look back on All American Pro Wrestling and ahead to this Saturday’s Stride Pro Wrestling show. Many AAPW stars will be returning that night for Curly’s benefit. It’s at Black Diamond Harley Davidson in Marion and every cent raised that night goes to Curly, who is facing some serious health issues right now.

Five Heart Podcast Episode 153: FAMILY FRIENDLY! IOWA – I’m Okay With Average

Hey everybody. Welcome to a very special Five Heart Podcast. It’s the episode where we don’t swear, and if we do, I very carefully cover it up with censorship.

We understand that you may be traveling with your family to a Thanksgiving gathering. (Also, Happy Thanksgiving!) So wanted to keep this as clean as we could so you could enjoy it before tomorrow’s game.

So we beat Maryland, soundly. A great time was had by all.

And now it’s on to Iowa, and Jon believes (rightly so) that Iowa has settled for a lifetime of mediocrity. And as long as there’s a Ferentz in Iowa City, Greg agrees.

Be sure to “Use Your Voice” and became a part of the show by calling (402) 327-1830. Or Facebook and Twitter, which are below.

Nerds United Episode 157: Turkey Before Turkey 2

This week is the Second Annual Nerds United Turkey Before Turkey episode. And that means our fearless hosts will take a shot of Wild Turkey ahead of tomorrow’s turkey (and food) coma of Thanksgiving.

On this show, we discuss music we were listening to in high school (we might be the only podcast this Thanksgiving weekend to mention Limp Bizkit). We talk about the Speed Centaur and the Invisible Woman, building a cinema universe on a strong foundation instead of sand, and gingers in Star Wars.

And be looking for a very special Cyber Monday sale, where you can get FREE SHIPPING AND 15% off EVERYTHING at our shop. And enjoy the show.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 262: Wrestling with the 80s

What a decade the 80s was. Some great pro wrestling memories were formed then, including the first Survivor Series. It went down on Thanksgiving night 1987. This week my guest co-host Scott Cross and I dissect this first annual event that is still going strong today.

Stride Pro Wrestling returns on Saturday, Dec. 7 with the former stars of All American Pro Wrestling for a benefit show for former wrestler Dan ‘Curly’ Summers. It’s at Black Diamond Harley Davidson in Marion and every cent raised that night goes to Curly, who is facing some serious health issues right now.

Nerds United Episode 156: The Draft with Kevin Hunsperger

Welcome to a new episode of Nerds United. This week on the show, we are joined by Kevin Husperger, host and sole proprietor of My 1-2-3 Cents the Podcast and My123Cents.com.

We took your comic book character suggestions and put together a draft, picking seven names each who would do battle in a make-believe arena.

We couldn’t have done it without you. So we thank you.

And also, Greg’s team would win. But you can help decide by voting on the post on Facebook.

Mike and Greg also talk about a few news items before Kevin comes on board. It’s another solid episode, and it’s not 14 hours. So we have that going for us.

Five Heart Podcast Episode 152: Making Sense of Nonsense

By that I mean – sure the outcome wasn’t desired, but the effort was there. Dare I say, the HEART was there.

This week on the show, Greg and Jon rehash their postgame thoughts from the weekend, while Hoss takes the opportunity to share his thoughts for the first time. What did Hoss see that he hasn’t seen in Husker football in almost twenty years?

SILVER LINING, YOU TURDS!

Here’s what we know: We make our first trip EVER to College Park to face the Maryland Terrapins this weekend.

And thinking about the Iowa game really gets Hoss’ piss hot.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 261: Wrestling Under the Influence

As a fan who grew up watching pro wrestling in the 80s, one of my favorite pay-per-view events of all-time is the Survivor Series. The original concept has long been scrapped but for the first several years of the event, it was hard to beat.

In 1990 a twist was added. I’m not talking about the Ultimate Survivors match at the end of the night. I’m also not referring to the debut of the Undertaker. Instead, something else that night left a huge impression… the Gobbledy Gooker.

So that’s the subject of this month’s Wrestling Under the Influence. I review that awesomely bad moment in time and pair it with Leinenkugel’s Cranberry-Ginger Shandy.

Nerds United Episode 155: Disney+ Gets Our Money and Probably Yours

This week on the podcast, Greg and Mike talk about snow days in our youth, local beer, Disney+, The Mandalorian, unexpected finds on the new streaming service, and much more.

And Mike really lets Greg have it for watching Episode 1 of The Mandalorian without telling Mike first. Because Greg’s a dick.

Five Heart Podcast Episode 151: Talking with the Enemy

This week on the Five Heart Podcast, Greg, Hoss, and Jon get you ready for Saturday’s match-up with Wisconsin. And to do that, we spend a little time talking with Tyler Hunt, Podcast Manager at Bucky’s 5th Quarter.

We talk with Tyler about Wisconsin’s expectations heading into the year and how the losses to Illinois and Ohio State may have derailed post-season plans. We talk about the elephant in the backfield known as Jonathon Taylor, and what weaknesses, if any, the Badgers possess.

After we let Tyler depart, we talk about why Wisconsinians (Wisconsegians – if we follow the Io_a way of naming things) are so happy. We discuss the youth on the Husker team and why we likely won’t see any more freshmen on the field in their redshirt year.

And we do spend a few minutes talking about Nebraska’s second-favorite son, Garrett Nelson, as well as Damion Jackson being awarded Blackshirts.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 260: The Interview w/Garrett Turner

It’s easy to boo the bad guys (and women) we see in the wrestling ring. But everyone who steps through those ropes has a backstory. That’s what I aim to learn more about with a new feature called The Interview.

My first subject, Garrett Turner. He’s better known as Dexter Roswell in Stride Pro Wrestling. In 2017, Garrett came out and a recent interview by One37PM with NXT signee Jake Atlas prompted me to ask Garrett to talk about his experiences coming out. I hope you enjoy the show.

Five Heart Podcast Episode 150: An Episode of Biblical Proportions

Well, this is our 150th episode. And in it, we do our best to talk about anything BUT Husker football. Let’s face it – it’s a coffin on roller skates at the moment. It will turn around. I don’t know when. No one does.

In this episode, we talk about making a change at starting QB, bible references, wasted defensive efforts, mind-boggling play-call, Nebrasketball, the Joker, and, uh…bedroom performance enhancers.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 259: 2 is Greater Than 1

The world of professional wrestling has a variety of memorable characters. One of the most memorable I’ve had the chance to work with is Curly. The man behind the gimmick, which is dedicated to the 3 Stooges is Dan Summers. Unfortunately, Dan is having some major medical issues right now.

That’s where his brothers and sisters in wrestling are stepping in. On Saturday, Dec. 7 Stride Pro Wrestling presents AAPW Ressurection. All American Pro Wrestling was at one time a huge force in southern Illinois and Curly was one of the biggest attractions on the roster.

Now, many stars from AAPW are coming together to wrestle for Stride. The show is happening at the Black Diamond Harley Davidson Warehouse and 100% of the money raised that night will be donated to Curly and his family. Get your tickets here.

Nerds United Episode 154: Playing Catch Up

This week on the podcast, Greg and Mike pair their beer to some delicious Halloween candy. And the guys get going talking about the topics you come for each episode.

Topics like:

Ant-Man 3
Bloodshot movie and comics
Spider-Man Noir series
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel
Arrow
Greg being behind on Marvel Netflix shows yet seeming watching John Carter more than once.

And a lot more.

Five Heart Podcast Episode 149: We Mustn’t Fight Amongst Ourselves

There was a good amount of discord in this episode of the Five Heart Podcast. Jon and Hoss yell at each other. Greg steps out of the line of fire, but tries to keep the show on track as we discuss the loss to Indiana. Who stepped up and who shoulders the bulk of the responsibility for Loss Number Four?

We also get into the hot topic around the NCAA these days, that of Name, Image, and Likeness, and a student-athlete’s ability to generate income from theirs.

This week, it’s Nebraska at Purdue. Whose dynamic playmakers will have the better day? We’ll find out Saturday.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 258: Wrestling Under the Influence

Cheers! It’s time for another Wrestling Under the Influence. This month Tom Skull from the Skullbuster Wrestlecast and Tom & Jim’s Top 5 joins me. We drink two different beers, Stone Scorpion Bowl IPA by Stone Brewing Company and Shenangians by Indeed Brewing.

Of course, we center the conversation around Sting and his 1990 nemesis the Black Scorpion. It’s a great conversation as we stroll down memory lane with some good beer.

Five Heart Podcast Episode 148: Time to Be 2-0 Against Indiana in B1G Play

This week on a new episode of the Five Heart Podcast, Hoss and Greg get together for the first time since before the Northwestern game. The guys talk about close games and blowouts, advances made and the long road ahead.

Then the guys preview the upcoming game against Indiana, the first time the Hoosiers have been to Lincoln since 1977.

My 1-2-3 Cents Ep. 257: Wrestling with the 80s

It’s been 30 years since the first Halloween Havoc. WCW came up with the concept and it ended up being a successful formula for the company. Did you know Halloween Havoc had a better rating than Starrcade 6 of the 12 years they were around? One year it was a tie and five times Starrcade rated higher.

This week though, we’re focused on that first year and the build-up to the Thunderdome match between Ric Flair and Sting vs. Terry Funk and the Great Muta.

This post doesn’t really require anything else. This is the BOGO of Jon’s rants, because you get two. And technically, you’re not buying anything. It’s a bye week after the Huskers lost the beloved $5 Bits of Broken Chair Trophy, WHICH GOT MORE BROKEN AFTER THE GAME!

Nerds United Episode 153: The Batman Casting and Chad Frickin’ Smart!

This week on a new Nerds United, Greg and Mike discuss the headlines of the week, like casting choices for The Batman, Thor wanting to team up with Captain America and Iron Man once more, and a sequel to the Harry Potter franchise.

And then we are joined by Chad frickin’ Smart, former host of Positive Cynicism on the Jittery Monkey Podcast Network, and founder of the Positive Cynicism Podcast Network. We talk about a couple movies Chad has seen recently, namely Jay and Silent Bob Reboot and The Joker. It was a great chat w/ our buddy from El Lay.

Thanks as always for listening to the show. If you don’t mind, share it. Thanks.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 256: Buried Alive

In keeping with the Halloween theme for the month of October, I decided to have a chat with current Stride Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion Red Daniels. Nearly two years ago he was involved in the company’s first (and only) Buried Alive match.

To our knowledge, WWE is the only company to do Buried Alive. There have been five such matches, dating back to 1996. If we’re incorrect in that claim, please let me know.

Red talks about the idea behind the match, the execution of it and the aftermath. It’s a great conversation. Be sure to share it with your friends!

Nerds United Episode 152: The Women of Marvel and Other Topics

This week on a brand new episode of your favorite comic book related podcast ever, Greg and Mike talk about places you may or may not have ever heard about, mention Kevin Smith and Triple H, talk about an all-female Marvel movie, how and when Daredevil could be a part of the MCU and which famous villain turned hero is championing the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen’s return, Jennifer Aniston hating on Marvel movies (probably out of jealousy), Brock vs Cain II in Saudi Arabia, Kevin Hunsperger, host of My 1-2-3 Cents the Podcast and 1/2 of the Stride Pro Wrestling Tag Team Champions, and run-on sentences.

Five Heart Podcast Episode 146: Game of Chairs

This week on the Five Heart Podcast, Jon and Greg discuss the win over Northwestern, the highs and the lows found therein. The guys also take a few minutes to preview the game against Minnesota this weekend.

But the highlight of the show is the conversation with Luke Peterson from the $5 Bits of Broken Chair Trophy Coalition (my word, not theirs). With the trophy on the line once again this weekend, the Chair Trophy fund raiser is in full swing, and it’s up to you, Husker Nation, to ensure a fund-raising win for the Big Red. Make your way to their website (www.brokenchairtrophy.com) to pledge your support while making a donation to Team Jack. There’s a fund-raising event at the Mall of America tonight, complete with the Nebraska Pep Band. More information can be found here.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 255: 2 is Greater Than 1

It’s a new month and the first Monday we start it off right with 2 is Greater Than 1. This month Heath Hatton and I share our favorite moments in pro wrestling, along with some great memories of Stride Pro Wrestling.

Speaking of that, join us this Saturday night (Oct. 12) at the Stride Arena (1130 N. Division St., Carterville, IL) for Fright Night. Several great matches have been announced, including a battle royal to determine a contender for the Stride Pro Wrestling Heavyweight title.

Five Heart Podcast Episode 145: Moving Forward

This week on the Five Heart Podcast, we try to talk about the loss to Ohio State, but it still sucks. We get through it as quickly as we can while we ask some important questions:

What loss hurt worse, Ohio State or Colorado?
How many wins would it take to make this fan base happy?

Then the guys take a look at Northwestern, who will be in Lincoln this weekend.

Positive Cynicism EP. 112: The End is the Beginning

After two years and nine months, the weekly Positive Cynicism podcasts are coming to an end on the Jittery Monkey Podcast Network. After a year and a half of having rotating co-hosts, the decision to move the shows to the Positive Cynicism Podcast Network has been made in an attempt to better brand the shows.

Thanks to Greg Mehochko for the opportunity and encouragement to start Positive Cynicism. Thanks to Kevin Hunsperger for letting me guest on numerous episodes of My123Cents.  This is by no means a bitter split, it’s just the next evolution in the podcast landscape.

Greg and I are in talks for a new podcast for Jittery Monkey. Stay tuned for future announcements. For future installments of the Positive Cynicism shows, follow @chadsmart on twitter and stay tuned to www.positivecynicism.com

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 254: Now Hit My Music

Theme music in wrestling is something most fans take for granted. For as long as I can remember MOST wrestlers came to the ring to some kind of song. But it wasn’t always that way.

This week my guest co-host Chad Smart and I break down some of our favorite themes and why music is so important in branding a performer.

Nerds United Episode 151: Spider-Man, The Batman, and a 67 Impala

This week on a brand new Nerds United – two episodes never alike! – Greg and Mike discuss their lives over the last week. Then they talk about the Walker, Texas Ranger reboot, Jurassic World 3 bringing back some classic names, Brandon Routh as Superman, why Michael Rosenbaum is NOT in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover for DC CW, and a little (BIG) story surrounding everyone’s favorite web-slinger.

Five Heart Podcast Episode 144: Illinois, Gameday and An Ohio State University

This week on the Five Heart Podcast, we do a little breakdown of Nebraska’s 42-38 road win over Illinois. Plus, with College Gameday coming to Lincoln, there’s lots to discuss, like who we would like to see as the celebrity guest picker. And if you weren’t aware, an Ohio State University football team is coming to town for a showdown under the lights. So there’s a lot going on.

Positive Cynicism EP. 111: Wonder Why; Georgia Satellites/Dan Baird

You got a little change in your pocket, going jing-a-ling-a-ling?

Following up last months twofer, @chadsmart and @MikeDeKalb are back for another one-two punch of One Hit Wonders starting with the Georgia Satellites band’s hit of 1987 and ending with their lead singer Dan Baird’s solo hit of 1993.

How did a southern rock band manage to bust onto a Top 40 chart overcrowded with Pop, R&B and Adult Contemporary artists? Why didn’t they have any follow up success?

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 253: Wrestling with the 80s

When it comes to great wrestling families, I put the Von Erichs near the top of the list. I grew up in the 80s when Von Erich Mania was running wild. So did my guest co-host this week, Travis Yates (@thetravisyates on Twitter).

We stroll down memory lane and share our thoughts on this iconic family and throw in a few ‘what if’ style scenarios. It’s a great conversation and tribute to one of our all-time favorite families in wrestling.

Nerds United Episode 150: EPISODE 150, Y’ALL!

This week on the show, Greg and Mike wax nostalgia and talk about olden times, bring back a long-lost segment of the show, and talk about some of the various news and notes making the rounds this week.

And if you make it to the end, the guys run down some of the offerings on the Disney+ streaming app.

Five Heart Podcast Episode 143: Huskers Hope to Beat Their Second Foe from Illinois

This week on the Five Heart Podcast, the guys discuss the win over the the Northern Illinois Huskies, talking the positives (that defense) and the negatives (those special teams, WOOF).

Then we talk about this weekend’s game at Illinois, the opener of the Big Ten slate. But coming out of the break, Greg and Hoss serenade Jon with the musical stylings of Kenny Rogers. That right there is worth the download.

Nerds United Episode 149: Writer and Hockey Enthusiast Stephanie Phillips

This very special mid-week episode features writer Stephanie Phillips, author of Aftershock Comics’ Descendent, as well as Kicking Ice from Ominous Press, and Devil Within from Black Mask Studios. Upcoming projects include but are not limited to The Butcher of Paris from Dark Horse Comics, and other unnamed projects we can’t even discuss.

Learn about Stephanie’s life and career outside of comics. And we do a deep dive into Descendent, which I HIGHLY recommend. Ask your local comic book shop about it. And enjoy the show!

Positive Cynicism EP. 110: Debate Me

With another Democratic Debate in the books, @chadsmart and Brandon Cooley are back to discuss their take away from what was said and who didn’t get a say due to controversial qualification standards.

Not only do they discuss the perceived front runners and the most shocking (and disappointing) omissions from the debate stage, they also talk about Ben Gleib’s little known Presidential campaign.  Does the media have a duty to report on all candidates or only ones with name brand familiarity?

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 252: Wrestling Under the Influence

Cheers and welcome to another edition of Wrestling Under the Influence. This month it’s a table for one as I drink ‘Me So Honey Blonde’ by Belching Beaver Brewing.

I pair this month’s beer with the ill-fated WWE (WWF) gimmick of Beaver Cleavage. It’s a quick stroll down memory lane. (Spoiler alert: the beer is better than the gimmick.)

Nerds United Episode 148: Classic TMNT and Micro Machines

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike replay the first two episodes of the classic 1989 cartoon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, providing their own unique brand of comedy.

We also hear about classic Micro Machines, UFC vs WWE, Kevin Hunsperger’s finishing maneuver, and more. Trips down memory lane and old toys for a new generation.

Thanks for joining us wherever you are. We appreciate you.

Oh, and at one point, Mike turns off his microphone and we don’t realize it but it’s okay because he’s talking about Brock Lesnar and Brock Lesnar is a turd.

Five Heart Podcast Episode 142: #$%&!

We’re doing the unthinkable – revisiting the loss to those damn Buffaloes. That’s about it. Hoss was there. He had some nice things to say about most of the CU fans he encountered.

And our final thoughts on Colorado:

And we preview this weekend’s game against NIU. A few other quick-hit topics are on tap as well.

Positive Cynicism EP. 109: The NFL’s Broken Moral Compass

With the 100th NFL season starting @chadsmart and Eric Bennett take time before kick off to discuss the way troubled players are rewarded with big money contracts. Using Antonio Brown’s cross country transition from Oakland to New England as a starting point, they debate what players would have to do for management and fans to say enough is enough.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 251: What If…Vince Retired?

For nearly 40 years Vincent Kennedy McMahon has been the driving force behind the WWE. Before that, of course, it was the World Wrestling Federation. In recent years though, McMahon has been criticized for his decisions related to the product. So this week we explore ‘What If… Vince Retired?’

My co-host for this month’s installment is Stride Pro Wrestling General Manager Sam Hunter. He’s a lifelong fan of pro wrestling and we share our opinions on today’s product and what we think would happen if Vince McMahon walked away from the company today.

Stride Pro Wrestling is in action this Saturday night (Sept. 14) for a fundraiser called Cashing In. It’s a fundraiser for the YouthBuild program. Get more information here.

Nerds United Episode 147: I Stole Chad’s Friend

THAT’S RIGHT! And I’ll do it again! This week on the show, Travis Yates, regular guest on Chad’s Positive Cynicism podcast, stops by via Skype to chat about holding Advanced Degrees in Pop Culture, avoiding a hurricane, the evolution of entertainment, CGI vs practical effects, hating on Terminator, some must-see films, and more.

Be sure to check out Travis’ website, maybe buy a book or two, and thanks for listening to the show.

Positive Cynicism EP. 108: Random Discussions

As Hurricane Dorian had Florida in its sights, @TheTravisYates was busy prepping his house to withstand the storm and trying to keep his family safe. Since he was unavailable to co-host his regular monthly episode of Positive Cynicism, @chadsmart recruited @my123cents host and one half of the newly crowned Stride Pro Wrestling tag team champions, @kevinhunsperger to take Travis’ spot.

Due to the sudden change in co-hosts, there was no topic in place so it was decided to do another random episode where topics were submitted from friends and then drawn from a pile of post-it notes. What are the topics? Where would the conversation go? Would any of it make sense? Listen to the show and find out.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 250: 2 is Greater Than 1: New Champs

Never in my life did I think I’d have an opportunity to wrestle for a championship. That dream came true last week and my partner and I were successful in our effort.

Yes, Heath Hatton and I are the new Stride Pro Wrestling tag team champions. We beat Tony Flood and Jay Spade at Bash at the Ballpark. However, we defend our belts this Saturday, Sept. 7 at Revenge in Carterville. You can learn more here.

In this week’s episode of Two is Greater than One, Heath and I talk about the night we won the titles, why he decided to go in this direction and wrap things up with the new feature Three for the Road. So, who are your three favorite tag teams? Bonus if the Baby Oil Buddies (that’s us) is on your list. 🙂

Nerds United Episode 146: A Big Beefy Wookie

This week on Nerds United, we look at Star Wars A New Hope and cast it through the lens of 2019. Star Wars never existed, and we are casting it with the actors and actresses of today.

Who would you cast as some of the main characters in Star Wars if it were being made in 2019 for the first time? Let us know in the comments or on social media.

Five Heart Podcast Episode 140: Gray Lumpy Beach Balls

This week on the Five Heart Podcast…Hoss is out. Jon Damn Johnston is out. It’s just Greg and special guest/co-host Paul Dalen. And the first topic of conversation?

Armadillos.

But then we put a bow on the series of game previews, discussing Maryland and Iowa. Let’s be honest, we don’t give a crap about the Maryland game, but we all have November 29 circled on our calendars. Leftover turkey, fighting over cheap electronics, and serving up a 50-burger for the Squawkeyes.

During the course of the show, we also talk about two Huskers suspended indefinitely, Mo Washington’s uncertain status, two new running back recruits, and one match-up with the underwhelming Jaguars.

And check out the great deal on Paul’s book, available on your Kindle device:

Nerds United Episode 145: Jason White Returns and Talks Villains

Jason White, writer and artist of Lost Owl Kingdom, returns to Nerds United as inspiration for this mid-week episode. First we catch up on some of Jason’s news and happenings of this summer.

Then we get down to the matter at hand…which villain do you agree with? Maybe it’s the logic they share in one of their monologues.

via GIPHY

Sit back and relax as Greg, Mike, and Jason chat villains, and don’t forget that we’ll have your regular show for you at the end of the week! Because we care!

Positive Cynicism EP. 107: Wonder Why; Kajagoogoo and Limahl

For the first time in the history of the Wonder Why series, we’re looking a two One Hit Wonders. Kajagoogoo hit the charts in 1983 with the single “Too Shy.” Two years later, after being fired from the band, Limahl charted with the theme song to the film, “The Neverending Story.”

@chadsmart and @MikeDeKalb break down the career of both the band and the artist to see if they worked better individually or together. For the first time in the history of the Wonder Why series, the reason for only having one hit may have been discovered. Listen and see if you agree with their insight.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 249: Wrestling with the 80s

Oh, the 80s. What a decade! It’s when my fandom got started. It’s also when my guest co-host Jason Skull from the Skullbuster WrestleCast started watching wrestling. This week he joins me for the first installment of Wrestling with the 80s.

We discuss SummerSlam 1988, the first of its kind. Besides the show, we talk about the buildup to it and what was happening with Jim Crockett Promotions at the same time.

Hatton & Hunsperger to challenge Spade & Flood

Stride Pro Wrestling has a HUGE event planned on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Rent One Park in Marion. I’m teaming up with Heath Hatton to get a shot at the tag team titles. Learn more here.

Nerds United Episode 144: Spider-Man Tug of War and D23

This week on Nerds United, Mike and Greg discuss at length the split between Marvel and Sony over our favorite web-slinger. That was news that rocked the nerd world.

Plus, Masters of the Universe is coming back, thanks to Hero of the Show Kevin Smith (and Netflix). And there’s a lot more content heading to Disney+ that we learned about at D23. So it’s not all sorrow and sadness.

Enjoy the episode and share it with anyone you know. Because you love us, and we love you…probably. I mean, Greg is married but Mike may love you.

….long time.

Five Heart Podcast Episode 139: Great Expectations

This week, Hoss, Greg, and Jon Damn Johnston discuss the expectations surrounding a two-time (TWO-TIME) 4-8 team that is ranked #24 in the AP Pre-Season Poll. And we hear from HCSF and DC Erik Chinander on their thoughts on the pre-season ranking.

We also briefly discuss Justin Fields being named the starter at Ohio State and preview two games in November – a road game at Purdue and a home meeting with Wisconsin.

Strap up – it’s almost football time!

Nerds United Episode 143: Inside Twilight Comics (Swansea, Illinois)

This special mid-week episode of Nerds United has Greg in his favorite comic book store. He’s talking with Brian the owner about the state of the comic book industry, how digital platforms have affected brick and mortar stores, and how publishers and comic book store owners are co-existing.

If you haven’t yet, check out this short video Greg and Brian made while destroying a couple of comic books.

Destroying some comics at Twilight Comics (Swansea, Illinois).

Mike will be back for the week’s recap of news Friday night as usual. There are a lot of headlines that came out this week. We look forward to sharing them all with you.

Positive Cynicism EP. 106: Hunting for Answers

Does an artist or a company have a moral responsibility regarding the content they release to the mass public? Universal Pictures recently cancelled the release of the motion picture “The Hunt” due to mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton.

On this episode, @chadsmart and @TheTravisYates discuss their opinions on Universal’s decision and if it’s a serious regret or face saving measure. From there the conversation turns to Hollywood’s fascination and society’s acceptance of violence over language or sexuality.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 248: Wrestling Under the Influence

Give me a hell ya, because it’s time for another edition of Wrestling Under the Influence. This month former Stride Pro Wrestling Champion Red Daniels and I try Stone Brewing Company’s Stone IPA and discuss the career of ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin.

We also talk about life as an indy wrestler and what’s going on in Stride Pro Wrestling. We have a HUGE event planned on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Rent One Park in Marion. Red gets his rematch for the belt and I’m teaming up with Heath Hatton to get a shot at the tag team titles. Learn more here.

Nerds United Episode 142: The Boys Talking about The Boys…and more

This week on an all-new Nerds United, Greg and Mike are talking about Catwoman’s “controversial” new costume, as well as The Lion King, Avengers: Endgame, destroying comics, and The Boys (now on Amazon Prime).

Give it a listen and share it with the nerds in your social circle.

Five Heart Podcast Episode 138: A Corncob Peeing on a Hawkeye

This week on the Five Heart Podcast, we deep-dive into a single image that made its way onto the internet this week.

We talk about Ohio State trying to trademark a word we use hundreds of times a day. Disney/ESPN doesn’t care about you.

Plus we preview the three games in October and Jon takes us back in time to Memorial Stadium 1978.

And Jon (83) calls Hoss (28) a “crusty old man.”

Positive Cynicism EP. 105: Too Much Information

The age of the internet has provided easy access to more information than is probably necessary. This is true when it comes to pop culture. @chadsmart and Eric Bennett discuss growing up prior to the internet when you’d find out about a movie by seeing a trailer in the theater a few months before the movie premiered. They compare it to now where a movie gets a release date before a script and fans know everything about the movie prior to the release.

Before getting to the main discussion, Eric gives a wrap up and live thoughts on his experience at San Diego Comic Con 2019.

Midway through the conversation, the conversation hits the tangent highway and road trip through thoughts on Disney’s live action remakes.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 247: What If… Jericho Stayed

This is the first installment of What If… and we’re talking about Chris Jericho. Chad Smart (from Positive Cynicism) and I discuss what if Jericho had stayed in WCW instead of jumping ship in Aug. 1999.

Stride Pro Wrestling heads to the Pulaski County Fair on Friday, Aug. 16. We also have a HUGE event planned on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Rent One Park in Marion. Learn more here.

Nerds United Episode 141: X-Men and Marvel, DC Comics, and Skittles

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Co-Host of the Year Mike talk about what comics Greg has been reading, having leftover beer, merging the Marvel and X-Men cinematic universes, how it could go right, and where the X-Men went so wrong.

And then there’s Skittles.

Five Heart Podcast Episode 137: Husker Fan Day; Illinois and OSU Previews

This week on Corn Nation’s flagship podcast, Greg, Hoss, and Jon Damn Johnston discuss last week’s Fan Day and ridiculous items to be autographed.

Then the gang looks at the first two games of the Big Ten Conference slate, a road game at Illinois and a September 28 meeting at home against Ohio State.

Positive Cynicism EP. 104: Cynical Politics

Another month, another round of trying to make sense of the political landscape. Originally the discussion was to center around the second Democratic debate and President Trump’s tweets regarding Baltimore and Representative Elijah Cummings. Unfortunately, that recording was unusable due to bad audio.

After fixing the issue and re-recording two days later, the conversation focused on the gun debate and the “Us vs. Them” perceived attitude in politics before turning attention to the debates. Sadly, halfway through the discussion, the audio was taken over by static again. The first half was a decent discussion.

Building an empire one podcast at a time.
