It never fails that a debate ensues when a second or third-generation wrestler hits the ring with a name not associated with their famous relative.

The most recent instance occurred with Brian Pillman, Jr., now going by Lexis King in WWE’s NXT. I share my thoughts on the name and others who have decided to take a different track than their famous father.

Welcome to the first episode of Wrestling Under the Influence this decade! I’m joined by Ryzer, from Stride Pro Wrestling. He and I enjoy the Unfiltered Wheat American Classic by Boulevard Brewing Company. We pair this beer with the ‘American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes and his son, the ‘American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes.

Stride returns on Saturday, Feb. 1 at Central Junior High School in West Frankfort. This is a fundraiser for the school’s PTA. Check out Stride’s website for more details.

All In & Starrcast

All In & Starrcast weekend is a wrap. Longtime My 1-2-3 Cents supporter Jeff Holtke was there with his buddy Brenden O’Neill spent the weekend in Chicago. Jeff served as a special correspondent on the My 1-2-3 Cents Twitter page over the weekend, providing pics and recaps of the sights and sounds.

I had a chance to catch up with the two on the phone after All In and before they headed back for the final day of Starrcast. They met lots of legends and current wrestlers. You’ll hear more about their experience and their thoughts the show.

Reminder: Stride Pro Wrestling has a show coming up this Saturday, Sept. 8 as part of Carterville Free Fair. The show is at the Carterville Community Center. Bell time is 6:30 p.m.

For nearly two years, there have been some interesting guests on My 1-2-3 Cents the Podcast. But the Space Monkey may be the most unique. He and I have a “conversation” about his career in the squared circle.

Space Monkey has been wrestling for about two years and has worked for companies along the East coast and into Canada. I first noticed him on social media (@PWSpaceMonkey) a few weeks ago after he competed in Chikara Pro.

Episode 54 is a special one, as it marks the one year anniversary of My 1-2-3 Cents the Podcast.   The first show dropped December 9, 2014.  Thanks to all who have listened and shared the podcast.  It’s a lot of fun putting the shows together.  Also thanks to Greg Mehochko, co founder of Jittery Monkey and host of Nerds United, for inviting Kevin to be a part of the “family.”

The guest this week is former WWE Diva Terri Runnels.  She’s been involved in the wrestling business for more than 25 years and has evolved from her early days as Ms. Alexandra York in WCW to Marlena to Terri.  She shares stories from the early days, her life as a working mom and what she’s up to these days.
