My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 487: WrestleMania Returns

WrestleMania season is my favorite time of year. This week on the podcast, I’m talking about a few of my favorite WrestleMania returns after a long hiatus from the event. Some Superstars in the conversation include ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper, and Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat.

It’s the week of Christmas, and we’re celebrating with a few of our favorite Christmas related moments (and Santa Claus related appearances) in the world of pro wrestling. Chad Smart from the Positive Cynicism Podcasting Network joins me to look back at some fun yuletide memories. What’s on your list?

I also try Santa’s Little Helper by Port Brewing Company. Of course, this is to keep with the Christmas theme of the show.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 284: Wrestling with the 80s

We’re just a couple weeks away from the 35 year anniversary of the very first Saturday Night’s Main Event. The show debuted May 11, 1985, from the Nassau County Coliseum.

So, I’ve turned to Jason Skull of the Skullbuster WrestleCast to take a trip down memory lane and chat more about that first episode. From Hulk Hogan to Roddy Piper to Wendi Richter, the show was stacked.

I’d love to know what you think about this show. Please follow My 1-2-3 Cents on social media: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (@my123cents). You can also subscribe to the My 1-2-3 Cents blog and YouTube channel. And follow the Jittery Monkey Facebook page for updates too. Thanks!

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 239: Wrestling Under the Influence ‘Rowdy & Proud’

It’s hard to argue the greatness of ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper. This week we raise a can of Rowdy & Proud by Three Taverns Craft Brewery to Hot Rod himself. I’m joined by Stride Pro Wrestling star Ax Allwardt. We discuss the beer and Piper. We throw in some comments about today’s wrestling scene and how it compares to the 80s.

Stride Pro Wrestling has a show Saturday, July 6 at the building in Carterville. It’s Scars & Stripes! Learn more here.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 208: That Didn’t Age Well

Piper vs. Adonis

I’m kicking off a new feature on My 1-2-3 Cents the podcast. That Didn’t Age Well will focus on a storyline or character from pro wrestling’s past and explore why it wouldn’t work today. First up is the feud between “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and “Adorable” Adrian Adonis.

Please don’t interpret this as a way to bash the past. Chad Smart from Positive Cynicism joins me for the show. We are simply looking at the storyline from 1986 and how fans reacted to it back then. We’re both fans of Hot Rod so there’s nothing negative in what we say.

It’s almost Christmas. Check out the latest design in the My 1-2-3 Cents store on Pro Wrestling Tees. Celebrate a Centmas Vacation!

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 178: Superfan “Rowdy” Roddy Piper

“Hug the ones you love.”

I’m kicking off another new feature here on the My 1-2-3 Cents podcast called “Superfan”. I’ll be having conversations with fellow pro wrestling fans about their all-time favorite wrestler. The first installment is with Barry Karafa from Cape Championship Wrestling.

Barry is a HUGE “Roddy” Roddy Piper fan. The quote you see at the top of this post was handwritten by Hot Rod in a Christmas card he sent to Barry the December before Piper’s death. We talk about that card and other memorabilia Barry has honoring Piper. We also share childhood memories and how Piper influenced the world of professional wrestling. By the way, you can see more of Barry’s collection over on the My 1-2-3 Cents Instagram page.

Barry is also part of CCW. The company is in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and has their ‘WrestleMania’ event this upcoming weekend. CCW: Supershow II is part of the Cape Con weekend. You’ll see all the stars of CCW along with Legends like Dan “The Beast” Severin (former My 1-2-3 Cents podcast guest) and Tommy Dreamer. You can still get tickets to the Supershow.

I’m also a sponsored athlete (stop laughing) for COLLARxELBOW brand. Shop online and use the promo code MY123CENTS and you’ll save 10%.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 175: Wrestling Under the Influence ‘Death by Coconut’

Wrestling Under the Influence

When I was in college I dreamed of attending WrestleMania X and having a beer. I picked ten specifically because that was the year I turned 21. So wrestling and beer have been a part of me for decades now. They’re a great tag team and now I’m finally kicking off a new segment on the My 1-2-3 Cents podcast.

Wrestling Under the Influence (name credit to Dennis Wyatt) will include a conversation between me and a fellow wrestling fan. We’ll share a beer and our memories on a point in wrestling that we tie into the beverage selected. On this first installment, it is Death by Coconut by Oskar Blues Brewery. Since coconut is in the name, I had to dedicate the beer to ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper and ‘Superfly’ Jimmy Snuka.

My fellow Craftbeerican and beginner pro wrestling fan, Tom Harness joins me for this conversation. We review the beer and talk about one of the most memorable wrestling angles from the 1980s.

I’m also a sponsored athlete (stop laughing) for COLLARxELBOW brand. Shop online and use the promo code MY123CENTS and you’ll save 10%.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 77: Hooo!!!

Kevin, his daughter Brooke & Hacksaw in 2011

Hey tough guys!  It’s not hard to figure out who this week’s guest is.  WWE Hall of Famer “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan joins me for a discussion about his career and friendship with the late “Rowdy” Roddy Piper.

Hacksaw will be in Pinckneyville, Illinois Saturday, May 14 for a fundraiser show.  You can learn more here.  The legend is also trying his hand at comedy.  You can check out his schedule on his website or follow him on Twitter @OfficialHacksaw

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 53: WrassleRoos Pro Wrestling Underwear

wrassleroos

Growing up in the 80’s, we had Underoos.  They were dubbed “underwear that’s fun to wear” and included super heroes like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.  As a wrestling fan, I’d always hoped my favorite WWF/E Superstars would be represented, but it never happened.

Fast forward 30 plus years and Jonathan Bowles had a vision: WrassleRoos.  It’s pro wrestling underwear for adults.  But not only can you find briefs in the likeness of legends like “Macho Man” Randy Savage, “Nature Boy” Ric Flair and the “American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, you can also choose from a variety of custom made, vintage t-shirts.  Boxer shorts are also available.

The story behind the success of WrassleRoos is truly remarkable.  Listen to this week’s show and find out how Colt Cabana and CM Punk each played a role in putting these unique under garments on the map.

Follow WrassleRoos on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  Also, be sure to check out My 1-2-3 Cents on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
