My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 82: World’s Strongest Camper

mark henry camp WWE
Mark Henry

If you haven’t checked out Camp WWE on the WWE Network, you’re missing out. I’ll be the first to admit, I’d never watched anything on Adult Swim before so I was leery about watching the show. Much to my surprise I enjoy it.

After tweeting about my enjoyment of the show, one of Camp WWE’s writers and one of the stars liked and commented on my post. I took this as an opportunity to invite them to be on the podcast. Actor Evan Michael Lee (@Evanmichaellee) accepted my invitation. He is the voice of Mark Henry.

We discuss the show and how he landed the role. As you might expect, Lee is also a big wrestling fan. He offers his picks for Money in the Bank too.

If you want to hear more about Money in the Bank, head to the My 1-2-3 Cents Facebook page. There was a live event where Chad and I discuss the upcoming show along with some of our friends.

Don’t forget, there’s a new blog everyday on My 1-2-3 Cents, follow on Twitter and Instagram (@my123cents) and subscribe to the YouTube channel. Also my other project, The Craftbeericans, is on all forms of social media. We’ll soon be doing a review of Broken Skull IPA by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.

Shane Rich 2
Shane Rich

Through the years I’ve made a lot of friends in the world of professional wrestling. Shane Rich and I met in 2011 during the All American Pro Wrestling days. Shane is that company’s former heavyweight champion.

He’s also a veteran, which is the inspiration behind the new promotion he’s starting; Warrior’s Code Wrestling. The first show is Saturday, June 11 at Christopher (IL) First Baptist Church. Bell time is 7 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Disabled American Veterans.

In this episode I also talk more about the passing of Muhammad Ali and the impact he had on wrestling and why I think he’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame is long overdue.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 70: Shake, Rattle and Roll

FEH8H3dx

The greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time is taking the show on the road.  The Honky Tonk Man has a new interactive show called Shake, Rattle and Roll.  He’s making a stop in Effingham, Illinois on Thursday, March 24 at the Effingham Performance Center.  The show starts at 7 p.m. and you can learn more details here.

I met HTM for the first time in 1997.  He’s the first wrestler I’ve met, so this interview is particularly important to me.  We discuss the upcoming show, and his life in the ring in the WWF in the late 1980s.  He and “Macho Man” Randy Savage main evented several house shows in that era.  The Honky Tonk Man is on Twitter as @OfficialHTM and he has a Facebook page.

Also coming up this week on the My 1-2-3 Cents blog, Chad and I run down our own MVPs of WrestleMania.  Don’t forget to check out @my123cents on Twitter and Instagram.  Like the Facebook page and subscribe to the YouTube channel.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 68: An Ax to Grind

ax wins
Ax wins the title

Through the years I’ve had several opportunities to be a wrestling referee, manager, ring announcer and commentator.  For the last couple of years the wrestling scene where I live (southern Illinois) has been on life support.  But now a promotion is changing all that.

CMA Pro Wrestling made its debut Saturday, March 5.  The show featured several talented wrestlers from this region and beyond.  A packed house watched at the CMA Marital Arts Center in Marion, Illinois as the first champion was crowned.

Ax Allwardt beat three other men in a fatal four way contest.  Fan favorite Heath Hatton nearly had the match won after spearing the near 400 pound Frank Wyatt.  But the opportunistic Allwardt interrupted the pin and tossed Hatton to the floor, where the fourth man in the match Tony Flood was recovering after being dropped by Wyatt.

I managed to get a quick (and I mean quick) interview with the new champ.  He talks about his past in the business and his future as the new CMA Pro Wrestling Champion.

Also on this week’s show the winners of our Road to WrestleMania contest.  Thanks to all who participated and keep listening, Chad and I will have more contests in the future.

Tyler golds
Tyler “Heath” Hatton

It’s a new year, and many people have resolved to get into shape.  Nearly three weeks into 2016, I’m still visiting the gym four times a week with the help of a personal trainer.

My friend, Tyler “Heath” Hatton, is the general manager at the Gold’s Gym near my home.  He recently offered to help get me into shape.  For those who have followed the My 1-2-3 Cents blog know that for years I’ve been trying to find my abs.

After several starts and stops, I’m ready to rededicate myself to the mission and I believe Tyler will help me achieve my fitness goals.

One of the things we discuss is nutrition and how important it is in any fitness plan.  As you’ll find out in the interview you can’t outwork a fork.  In the past, I’ve failed to realize that.  Now I’m eating healthier, drinking more water and cutting out sweets.  You can do it too!  Listen to this show to get motivated.

Learn more about Gold’s Gym here.

WWE World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins was recently injured in a match against Demon Kane.  That knee injury will keep Rollins out of the game for six to nine months.

WWE officials have declared the championship vacant and have promised a new champ will be crowned after a tournament at Survivor Series.  As of the recording of Episode 50, the number of and names of the participants have not been announced.

Kevin and Chad share some of their thoughts on who should be in the tournament, as well as the rest of the card for Survivor Series.

We’ll know more after Monday Night Raw, but until then, listen to this week’s show and share it with others.  Be sure to share your thoughts here as well.
