My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 411: That’s Gotta Be Kane!

Hellfire and brimstones, it’s been 25 years since Kane made his WWE debut. This week, Greg Mehocko and Chad Smart from the Power Half Hour joined me to discuss that night in St. Louis. The three of us were there for this show (In Your House: Badd Blood).

In this episode, we discuss Kane and his impact, along with the first Hell in a Cell match and the untimely passing of the legendary Brian Pillman.

I would love to know what you think about this show. Please leave a review and send me a screenshot of it! Check out My 1-2-3 Cents on social media: Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (@my123cents). My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 151: 6 Cents Favorite Kane Moments

Hellfire & brimstone it’s Kane!

It’s hard to believe, but the character Kane has officially been around for 20 years. The Big Red Machine debuted on October 5, 1997. Ironically (or maybe not) Chad and I were in attendance that night at the Kiel Center in St. Louis. We wouldn’t meet for another six and a half years though.

By Barry Karafa

So for this week’s episode, we are sharing our ‘6 Cents’ on the career of Kane and our top six memories of the former WWE Champion.  We also share some of our listeners’ thoughts of Kane, including the photo to your left of a little guy named Rollins. His dad, Barry Kafara with Cape Championship Wrestling, shared it with us and talked about Kane’s longevity as a character.

It’s hard to argue Kane is one of the all-time great characters (or gimmicks) in wrestling. Few Superstars have the staying power Kane did. Undertaker, Goldust and Triple H may be the only ones, at least off the top of my head.

On a different note, Stride Pro Wrestling returns to the Illinois Star Centre Mall on Saturday, Oct. 14. Come in a Halloween costume and celebrate with us. Bell time is 6:30 p.m. The Stride Championship is up for grabs in a best two-out-of-three falls match between Roger Matheus and Jay Spade.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 101: Hell Hath No Fury…

The Raw brand is back in pay per view form with the annual Hell in a Cell event. It’s set for Sunday and features an unprecedented three HIAC matches. Kevin Owens defends the WWE Universal championship against Seth Rollins, Rusev attempts to regain the U.S. championship from Roman Reigns and Sasha Banks clashes with Charlotte for the Raw Women’s title. That match is the first time the ladies have wrestled in a cell.

Chad and I break down the event as it stands so far. Who should main event? Are three cell matches necessary? Will Sheamus and Cesaro end the New Day’s 400+ tag team title reign?

WrestleMania 32 is in the books. There’s a new World Heavyweight champion. And the Intercontinental title changed hands. Plus…

The Rock, John Cena, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Mick Foley and Shawn Michaels all showed up too.

Kevin and Chad returned to WrestleMania after taking a year off. They share thoughts on the big show as well as NXT: Takeover and The Hall of Fame ceremony.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 66: Shane’s (and WWE’s) Big Undertaking

Undertaker vs Shane McMahon

The mystery of who The Undertaker will face at his 24th WrestleMania has finally been solved.  The Deadman will step into the Hell in a Cell once again at the biggest show of the year.  This time against Shane McMahon.

It’s a bold move and something most fans didn’t see coming.  I’d read countless blogs and posts from fans speculating everyone from John Cena to Samoa Joe to even Goldberg as being Undertaker’s opponent.

Chad and I talk more about the decision to put Shane in the match and what things WWE could be doing to make WrestleMania more appealing.  Other matches announced so far: Roman Reigns challenging Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and Brock Lesnar squaring off against Dean Ambrose in a Street Fight.

Don’t forget, this is also your last chance to enter the “Road to WrestleMania” contest.  Answer the question in this week’s show at the My 1-2-3 Cents Facebook page.  Prizes include a three-month subscription to WrestleCrate, a Sting prize pack and a $25 gift card to WWE Shop.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 49: Game On – 2K16 Review

Created by Jared Smith

2K Sports and WWE have teamed up again for another game to keep wrestling fans busy for the next several months.  WWE 2K16 recently hit store shelves.  This year’s game features “Stone Cold” Steve Austin on the cover and is available now on XOne, X360, PS 3 and PS 4.

Video game enthusiast and wrestling fan, Jared Smith, joins the show to discuss this latest version and share some of the cool new features.  You will soon be able to put your own face on the body of a Superstar you create for a more realistic make-a-Superstar experience.

Kevin and Jared talk about the evolution of the wrestling video game starting with the old Nintendo “Pro Wrestling” game and working up to today’s products.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 48: Back From Hell – A Firsthand Account of HIAC

Hell in a Cell
Hell in a Cell

Editor’s note: The first two or three minutes is a little hard to hear, but the connection clears up.  Please be patient!

Hell in a Cell 2015 is in the books.  Chad was in the crowd for the event for the second year in a row.  He and Kevin analyze what happened and give some thoughts on what it means for the Road to Wrestlemania, which will kick into high gear at next month’s Survivor Series.  Both agree the overall action was great and the story lines are progressing.

What will become of the Undertaker now that the Wyatt Family has kidnapped him? What’s the relationship between the returning Alberto Del Rio and Zeb Colter? Will Corporate Kane be fired?  What challenge is next for Diva’s champion Charlotte?  Kevin and Chad explore those story lines and more.

Be sure to check out the My 1-2-3 Cents blog, Facebook page with plenty of pics from the event and YouTube channel as well.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 44: What the Hell (in a Cell)?‏

Kevin and Chad are looking ahead to the upcoming Hell in a Cell pay per view. (Chad will be there in the crowd) The two talk about past shows and the one match that’s been signed so far, The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar.  The conversation takes plenty of twists and turns as it usually does and covers things going on in TNA and Chikara as well.
