Stride Pro Wrestling continues to amaze me. This past weekend we had two great shows, leading to a big event on Saturday, September 10. For the first time, Stride will have its version of the Royal Rumble, with 30 participants; past and present Stride stars will be involved. Plus, a grudge match between Heath Hatton and Cash and a Dog Collar Match between Bud Galloway and David Lee Walker. Be sure to join us that night at the Sioux Drive Center in Marion, Illinois!

It’s hard to believe that 30 years have passed since the 1992 Royal Rumble. In which Ric Flair was the victor, that match will go down in history as one of the WWE’s greatest Rumble matches. This week, Chad Smart and I break down the match itself, the buildup, and the aftermath.

The new year always means it’s time for the best pay-per-view event of the year, the Royal Rumble. We’re keeping the tradition alive of chatting about past Rumbles here on the podcast. This week, my guest co-host is Luke Lay, the co-host of the greatest Royal Rumble parties I’ve ever attended…
This year we break down the 1990 Rumble and the build to the match at WrestleMania VI between Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior.
Stride Pro Wrestling returns on Saturday, Feb. 1 at Central Junior High School in West Frankfort. This is a fundraiser for the school’s PTA. Check out Stride’s website for more details.

The 2019 Royal Rumble is over as you’re listening to this week’s episode. But I still wanted to take the time to do a Royal Rumble themed show. So welcome to the first ever Royal Rumble Roulette
Guest co-host Luke Lay and I discuss the 1994 Royal Rumble. How we get to the talking points is the fun part, as we draw numbers just like in the real Rumble match.
Also over on the My 1-2-3 Cents YouTube channel, I’ve started a new feature called Go Figure Friday. Be sure to check it out and subscribe to the channel.

Royal weekend
It’s been a great weekend in the world of professional wrestling and Chad was there front and center. He attended several events over the weekend in Philly, including the Royal Rumble, Chikara’s show, House of Hardcore and a Legends event featuring the Four Horsemen.
In this week’s episode, Kevin and Chad break down the 2018 Royal Rumble and discuss all the happenings in Philadelphia over the weekend.
I’m also a sponsored athlete (stop laughing) for COLLARxELBOW brand. Shop online and use the promo code MY123CENTS and you’ll save 10%.
Hype! Hype! Hype! If media was a professional wrestler, it’d be one half of the Hype Bros.
But dammit, I’m so excited to get home tonight and watch Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
I saw it opening weekend (the Saturday showing) with my buddy RJ, and then we had a little conversation about it for the podcast. But if you recall at the time, I stated that I dozed slightly in the theater. It’s not the first time it has happened, but it did occur during a movie that I was very eager to see, and got out of the house to do so.
And I waited until after I saw the movie to listen to podcast reviews or read anything about it, so I know I missed some good, integral parts of the story.
But tonight…all that changes.
I can’t tell you the last time I went into a store and bought a physical movie. I started going the digital route, and am enjoying that immensely. It’s weird. When I lived in a smaller town, I could easily zip over to Wal-Mart and get groceries and browse the movie selection. But now, even though I live in a more populated area and there are clearly more shopping options……none of them are on my way home. And they’re all over-crowded.
So digital it is.
Anticipation is a funny thing. If no one told us to be excited for the newest movie, video game, comic book series (or writer/artist duo), or new album, would we care? But in this era of the 24-hour news cycle, where they have to talk about something all the time, you get more information that you ever probably thought you’d want or need.
Anticipation builds.
We’re on the “Road to Wrestlemania” and we have been since the Royal Rumble. Or more accurately, we have been since the Monday after Wrestlemania last year.
We’re in the middle of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, and brackets and boards are filled with anticipation. And unless you had that perfect bracket (and you don’t, thank you Rhode Island), or are a fan of the remaining teams vying for the championship, your interest has probably waned somewhat. The caveat there is if you’re just a basketball fan and love this time of year.
Major League Baseball is getting closer to its opening day.
And there’s already buzz generated for movies that are still a year or more away. And much more hype (or anticipation) will be cultivated at Comic Con.
Since I pre-ordered Rogue One, I technically could have watched it last night after 11pm, but knew I wouldn’t stay awake through the entire thing…again. So I erred on the side of caution. So tonight when I go home, I’m going to hug my son, kiss my wife, have a little dinner, put the boy to bed, record an episode of Corn Nation’sFive Heart Podcast, and watch Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
It’s also why you’re getting this post now – because after I get that recording ready to go, I’m going dark…and hoping to stay awake.
The 2017 Royal Rumble is officially in the books. Kevin and Chad analyze the 30th annual event and talk more about what happened at the Alamo Dome and what the Road to WrestleMania looks like.
The two will also talk about big wins by Neville, The Club and John Cena who has now tied Ric Flair’s 16 times as World Champion.
The 2017 Royal Rumble is just days away and Kevin and Chad are running down the card. They pick the winners for the undercard and analyze the 30 man over the top rope event. Who do you think will win?
The official rules for the My 1-2-3 Cents Royal Rumble contest have been announced too. Look for more details on the Facebook page this week. Also Monday, January 23 is My 1-2-3 Cents Day (and the birth of Hulkamania). Be sure to read more about how to participate and win prizes here.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 65: Kofi Kingston Talks About "The Power of Positivity"[ 17:57 | 0.01 MB ]Play Now | Play in Popup | Download (767)
I’m excited about this week’s show. WWE Superstar and one third of the tag team champions Kofi Kingston spent some time chatting about an upcoming house show in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The New Day member discusses more than the team’s Triple Threat Match against the Dudleyz and the Usos.
Kofi touches on his time before the New Day formed and how the trio fought to get the team on TV. We discuss past Royal Rumbles and the need to come up with something creative each year to avoid elimination and which tag teams from the past he would like to have seen New Day face. Listen until the end to hear this week’s Road to Wrestlemania trivia question.
If you’re in the southeast Missouri, southern Illinois or western Kentucky area; tickets for the WWE Road to Wrestlemania show are still available. The event is Saturday, Feb. 27 at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau.
There’s a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Triple H returned to the 2016 Royal Rumble to capture the coveted prize for the 14th time. Roman Reigns put up a valiant effort, but in the end it wasn’t enough to overcome the Authority and the League of Nations.
Kevin and Chad chat more about the Rumble match and what’s next for Triple H as champ and who he should face at Wrestlemania. Brock Lesnar, the Wyatt Family and plenty of other Superstars get some love during this show, including the six who made their Rumble debut. Those Superstars include AJ Styles, who also made his WWE debut at the Rumble, as well as Neville, Braun Strowman, Tyler Breeze, Kevin Owens and Zami Zayn.
The guys also share details about new contest leading to Wrestlemania. There will be three different winners and prizes include a 3-month subscription to WrestleCrate, a $25 WWE Shop gift card and a Sting prize pack. Be sure to listen to the show for the first week’s question.

It’s a new year, and many people have resolved to get into shape. Nearly three weeks into 2016, I’m still visiting the gym four times a week with the help of a personal trainer.
My friend, Tyler “Heath” Hatton, is the general manager at the Gold’s Gym near my home. He recently offered to help get me into shape. For those who have followed the My 1-2-3 Cents blog know that for years I’ve been trying to find my abs.
After several starts and stops, I’m ready to rededicate myself to the mission and I believe Tyler will help me achieve my fitness goals.
One of the things we discuss is nutrition and how important it is in any fitness plan. As you’ll find out in the interview you can’t outwork a fork. In the past, I’ve failed to realize that. Now I’m eating healthier, drinking more water and cutting out sweets. You can do it too! Listen to this show to get motivated.
Former WWE champion John Cena has undergone successful shoulder surgery. But as he recovers, it appears he will not be a part of Wrestlemania for the first time in more than a decade. What kind of impact will his absence have on the WWE’s biggest event of the year?
Kevin and Chad talk about that scenario and look at what the company can do to make the lack of Cena, as well as Seth Rollins and possibly Randy Orton and Cesaro less severe. The two also talk about the 2016 Royal Rumble and who should walk out the champ as well as speculation that members of the Bullet Club are WWE/NXT bound.
Remember to check out the My 1-2-3 Cents blog. Also, subscribe to the YouTube channel, follow on Twitter and like on Facebook. Thanks for sharing this show and the others here on the Jittery Monkey Podcasting Network.
Kevin is joined by long time friend and My 1-2-3 Cents blogger Chad Smart for some Royal Rumble analysis. The two recap the event, including the Royal Rumble match itself and the three-way WWE World Heavyweight title match. Kevin and Chad look ahead to Wrestlemania 31 and talk about more than just Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns, but also the prospect of a John Cena vs. Rusev match. What roles will The Rock, Undertaker, Daniel Bryan and Bray Wyatt have? Listen and see what these two life long fans have to say.
It’s a special midweek edition of the podcast. Episode 8 features an interview with WWE Superstar Sheamus. The Celtic Warrior has been sidelined with an injury, but took some time to talk with Kevin about his health, his Royal Rumble prediction and more importantly his work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
In this episode Kevin is also joined by Nerds United host Greg Mehochko as the two talk about the upcoming Royal Rumble and share memories from their favorite versions of the yearly pay-per-view.
