My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 411: That’s Gotta Be Kane!

Hellfire and brimstones, it’s been 25 years since Kane made his WWE debut. This week, Greg Mehocko and Chad Smart from the Power Half Hour joined me to discuss that night in St. Louis. The three of us were there for this show (In Your House: Badd Blood).

In this episode, we discuss Kane and his impact, along with the first Hell in a Cell match and the untimely passing of the legendary Brian Pillman.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 339: Movie Mania

It’s almost May 19th, and we’re watching WWE Films’ See No Evil to celebrate. The WWE Hall of Famer Kane stars in this horror flick from 2006, which spawned a sequel several years later. This week, Chad Smart of the PCPN (Positive Cynicism Podcasting Network) joins me to discuss the film and provide a little background info on the crew.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 256: Buried Alive

In keeping with the Halloween theme for the month of October, I decided to have a chat with current Stride Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion Red Daniels. Nearly two years ago he was involved in the company’s first (and only) Buried Alive match.

To our knowledge, WWE is the only company to do Buried Alive. There have been five such matches, dating back to 1996. If we’re incorrect in that claim, please let me know.

Red talks about the idea behind the match, the execution of it and the aftermath. It’s a great conversation. Be sure to share it with your friends!

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 180: Wrestling Under the Influence ‘Two Brothers’

Brotherly Love

It’s another episode of Wrestling Under the Influence. This week I’m joined by my buddy Dan Turnquist and we tackle 21st Anniversary by Two Brothers Brewing Company. Full disclosure, when I looked at the can, I thought the name of the beer was two brothers and that’s why I picked it. I figured we could talk about our favorite brothers in pro wrestling.

The actual beer we drank is the 21st Anniversary. However, we did just go ahead and talk about the brothers of wrestling we like the most. Some are related by blood, others are related by a storyline. However, as we discuss wrestling, in general, is a brotherhood, so it’s all good.

I’m also a sponsored athlete (stop laughing) for COLLARxELBOW brand. Shop online and use the promo code MY123CENTS and you’ll save 10%.

My 1-BOO-3 Cents: Halloween Havoc 2017

Halloween Havoc 2017

I had big plans for the Halloween edition of My 1-2-3 Cents. More than just changing the name to My 1-BOO-3 Cents for sure. However, my attempts to line up a Halloween-ish wrestler fell short. So I was left to come up with something else.

I drew inspiration for this show from the Skullbuster WrestlecastTom & Jason Skull did some fantasy booking on their last show and created a Halloween Havoc style card with the current WWE roster. I didn’t want to totally rip the brothers off, so I came up with this…

WWE recently released a list of its 50 scariest Superstars of all time. So I took that list and created matches and of my own. Also on this week’s episode, a rundown of the upcoming Stride Pro Wrestling show. The action returns to the Illinois Star Centre Mall in Marion on Saturday, Nov. 4. Bell time is 6:30 p.m.

Don’t forget, I’m also now a part of COLLARxELBOW. You can shop online and use the promo code MY123CENTS to save on t-shirts when you shop. The company has added some new shirts in recent weeks. It’s a great way to support indy wrestling and My 1-2-3 Cents. Thanks as always for your support.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 151: 6 Cents Favorite Kane Moments

Hellfire & brimstone it’s Kane!

It’s hard to believe, but the character Kane has officially been around for 20 years. The Big Red Machine debuted on October 5, 1997. Ironically (or maybe not) Chad and I were in attendance that night at the Kiel Center in St. Louis. We wouldn’t meet for another six and a half years though.

By Barry Karafa

So for this week’s episode, we are sharing our ‘6 Cents’ on the career of Kane and our top six memories of the former WWE Champion.  We also share some of our listeners’ thoughts of Kane, including the photo to your left of a little guy named Rollins. His dad, Barry Kafara with Cape Championship Wrestling, shared it with us and talked about Kane’s longevity as a character.

It’s hard to argue Kane is one of the all-time great characters (or gimmicks) in wrestling. Few Superstars have the staying power Kane did. Undertaker, Goldust and Triple H may be the only ones, at least off the top of my head.

On a different note, Stride Pro Wrestling returns to the Illinois Star Centre Mall on Saturday, Oct. 14. Come in a Halloween costume and celebrate with us. Bell time is 6:30 p.m. The Stride Championship is up for grabs in a best two-out-of-three falls match between Roger Matheus and Jay Spade.

Say what you will, Survivor Series 2015 has a lot of people talking.  That includes Kevin and Chad.  The dynamic duo of wrestling podcasts and blogs analyze this year’s event and offer their 1-2-3 Cents about what went down.

Two WWE World Heavyweight champions were crowned in the course of just a few minutes.  Roman Reigns won his first singles title only to have the fun spoiled by the Celtic Warrior Sheamus. The Undertaker marked 25 years with the WWE by teaming up with his brother Kane and defeating the Wyatt Family.  Tyler Breeze looked pretty in his match with Dolph Ziggler.  Charlotte shined against Paige and the legendary Goldust made his return.

Tune in and share your thoughts as well.  Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube and as always read My 1-2-3 Cents the blog.

Episode 51: Undertaker & Survivor Series – Now & Then

Screen Shot 2015-11-15 at 12.48.42 PM

November 22, 1990 the Undertaker debuted at Survivor Series.  Twenty-five years to the date the Dead Man steps into the ring with his brother Kane to battle two members of the Wyatt Family.  In this episode, Kevin and Chad look back on some of the Undertaker’s best moments and share memories, facts and thoughts over the last two and and half decades.

The discussion also focuses on the November tradition of Survivor Series, which dates back to Thanksgiving 1987.  The two also talk about the tournament to crown a new WWE World Heavyweight champion and put together their own traditional Survivor Series match.  Click here to see their card.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 50: Vacant Wins Again

WWE World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins was recently injured in a match against Demon Kane.  That knee injury will keep Rollins out of the game for six to nine months.

WWE officials have declared the championship vacant and have promised a new champ will be crowned after a tournament at Survivor Series.  As of the recording of Episode 50, the number of and names of the participants have not been announced.

Kevin and Chad share some of their thoughts on who should be in the tournament, as well as the rest of the card for Survivor Series.

We’ll know more after Monday Night Raw, but until then, listen to this week’s show and share it with others.  Be sure to share your thoughts here as well.

Hell in a Cell
Hell in a Cell

Editor’s note: The first two or three minutes is a little hard to hear, but the connection clears up.  Please be patient!

Hell in a Cell 2015 is in the books.  Chad was in the crowd for the event for the second year in a row.  He and Kevin analyze what happened and give some thoughts on what it means for the Road to Wrestlemania, which will kick into high gear at next month’s Survivor Series.  Both agree the overall action was great and the story lines are progressing.

What will become of the Undertaker now that the Wyatt Family has kidnapped him? What’s the relationship between the returning Alberto Del Rio and Zeb Colter? Will Corporate Kane be fired?  What challenge is next for Diva’s champion Charlotte?  Kevin and Chad explore those story lines and more.

Be sure to check out the My 1-2-3 Cents blog, Facebook page with plenty of pics from the event and YouTube channel as well.
