As a child of the ’80s, @chadsmart grew up with Mtv. As a child of the ’90s, Greg “@thehooch36” witnessed the last days of Mtv as a viable tool for emerging musicians. Even though both hosts have fond memories of Mtv, there comes a time when they knew they were not the target demographic for the pop culture band leader.
On this episode of the Power Half Hour, Greg and Chad share their memories of Mtv and and explain when they realized their relationship with Mtv needed to end. It wasn’t them, it was Mtv.
As 2018 comes to a close, @chadsmart and @MikeDeKalb take a break from the normal Wonder Why formula as the month of nostalgia on Positive Cynicism continues. From discussing their first albums and concerts to their memories of Mtv, Chad and Mike stroll down the musical memory lane.
This is a conversation a little too long in the making. Corn Nation’s Jill Heemstra joins Greg to talk about the Nebraska Women’s Basketball team.
The two cover the transition from Connie Yori to Amy Williams, the departure of Nebraska’s own Jessica Shepard and how it was not only the right move for the young lady, but how it also may have been the best outcome for the Huskers.
How does this squad look heading into the final month of the regular season (16-6 as of this recording, before the Illinois game)? And how did whispers of a post-season appearance in the WNIT transform into talk of a Women’s National Tournament berth? (Spoiler: May have had something to do with three consecutive wins over ranked teams.)
Hoss and Hooch are back in an all-new episode. Now don’t let the name fool you. The guys are talking a myriad of topics this week, including the cold winter weather’s effects on every day life like work and gym habits. Fellas, what length shorts do you like to wear to the gym? Did you know what one of the guys on this show is a short-shorts type of guy? And what role did short shorts play in Nebraska basketball’s twenty-point win over #23 Michigan?
The guys also question why baseball coaches still wear uniforms like they’re about to take the field to play and wonder if/when the manager’s attire will evolve.
And not to bury the lede, but since one of the guys is single, we do discuss dating in modern times. Things used to be so much simpler.
On this week’s episode, @chadsmart is joined by Associate Professor of Communication, Travis Yates as they discuss if college is worth the cost or if everyone even needs to go to college. Several pros and cons are discussed as they try to determine what is the best option for today’s students.
