It’s hard to believe, but ten years ago this week, I had my very first pro wrestling match. It was against Mike Masters at AAPW Main Event. So, who better to have on the podcast than Masters himself? On Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, the world lost an amazing wrestler and an even better person in the Mississippi Madman. I first met Madman back in 2010 as a fan. A short time later, I learned more about the man behind the character, Don Jackson.

He touched the lives of many. So this week’s show is dedicated to Madman’s memory. We’ll hear from several people who worked with Madman over the years.

This month Kevin and Tyler continue to look back on All American Pro Wrestling and ahead to this Saturday’s Stride Pro Wrestling show. Many AAPW stars will be returning that night for Curly’s benefit. It’s at Black Diamond Harley Davidson in Marion and every cent raised that night goes to Curly, who is facing some serious health issues right now.

The 2nd annual Stride Pro Wrestling/My 1-2-3 Cents Pro Wrestling Action Figure Toy Drive is underway now. If you donate $5 or a new wrestling action figure you will be entered into a drawing for an autographed Four Horsemen poster. If you’re not in the area, you can PayPal me kevinhunsperger@gmail.com. You’ll receive one entry for every $5 donated. I will then use that money to buy figures from Five Below.

The world of professional wrestling has a variety of memorable characters. One of the most memorable I’ve had the chance to work with is Curly. The man behind the gimmick, which is dedicated to the 3 Stooges is Dan Summers. Unfortunately, Dan is having some major medical issues right now.

That’s where his brothers and sisters in wrestling are stepping in. On Saturday, Dec. 7 Stride Pro Wrestling presents AAPW Ressurection. All American Pro Wrestling was at one time a huge force in southern Illinois and Curly was one of the biggest attractions on the roster.

Now, many stars from AAPW are coming together to wrestle for Stride. The show is happening at the Black Diamond Harley Davidson Warehouse and 100% of the money raised that night will be donated to Curly and his family. Get your tickets here.

January 14, 2012 is one of those nights I’ll never forget. It was the one and only time I got to step in the ring and have a match. It was with All American Pro Wrestling, against Mike Masters. You can watch the match on YouTube here.

Also that night PAC squared off against El Generico. You know them better today as Neville and Sami Zayn. You can see their match (which I also helped call) here.

So this week’s podcast is an homage to my favorite show Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard. Nerds United and Five Heart Podcast host (and Jittery Monkey Network creator) Greg Mehockho plays the role of Conrad Thompson and asks “what happened when Kevin wrestled?”

Big thanks to Greg for the idea and the questions. I had hoped to have Mike Masters on for his perspective, but our schedules did not allow. Sometime this year we’ll make it happen.

I recently met a young wrestling fan named Dalton with a rare disease called ADL. His dying wish was to attend WrestleMania 33, but unfortunately, he passed away before that could happen. You can read more about Dalton here.
