Keith Yaple covers Nebraska Baseball for Corn Nation, and since this is Keith’s debut on the Five Heart Podcast, we get to play a little “Get to Know You.”

The Husker Baseball team was in action while we were recording the episode, so we get some live in-game reaction and analysis from Keith. Keith provides some insight on the Huskers’ season to this point, up to and including the game Wednesday night against the UNO Mavericks.

The Husker Men’s Hockey Club was victorious at the regional championship last weekend, punching its ticket to the national championship tournament in Frisco, TX later this month.

As for Husker football, we discuss the expected departure of Mo Washington, as he turned himself in to California officials due to the legal situation involving him and an inappropriate video. Well folks, we’re back. Fractured, but we’re back. No Hoss. No Jon Damn Johnston. But we get the Five Heart debut of Corn Nation’s youngest contributor (and hopefully a future Husker), Mitch Lohmeier.

Mitch covers Nebrasketball for CN and was recently accepted by UNL’s broadcasting school. No pressure. But he’ll do great wherever he goes. The only hang-up about this episode is a poor internet connection, which is rare these days. So we have to suffer through it. But what you get is the shortest Five Heart Podcast episode in some time. And for that, we’re sorry.

Nebraska has a bright second half in store for itself in 2019 if they come out swinging every game. After the win against Penn State this past week, it’s time to start stringing W’s together and making a run for the tournament. No time to take the foot off the gas.

Well, Nebraska football season is officially over. Time to “Win the Damn Off-Season” as Hoss would say. So in this episode, Hoss, Jon, and Hooch talk a little bit about the game at Iowa. We discuss the season of “what could have been” and what eventually happened.

We talk about the silliness (ie: stupidity) of the Iowa Marching Band Member who lied (I mean, the video evidence is there) and said the Husker football team did not participate in the “Wave” to the patients at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital after the first quarter. It’s a long-standing tradition, cute gesture that Kinnick Stadium fans, the Hawkeyes, and opposing teams have practiced since all the way back in 2017. And Hoss raises a good question (one Jerkeye fans may have to face on Black Friday 2020).

Some Huskers were recognized by the Big Ten coaches and media for the accomplishments they had this season, led by departing senior Stanley Morgan Jr. So the guys go down the list of honorees, and conclude that the future is bright.
