Nerds United 362: A Week of Unexpected Trailers

This week on Nerds United, Mike and Greg talk about some trailers that were released this week:

  • The Penguin
  • House of the Dragon (x2)
  • Star Wars: The Acolyte
  • Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Also, the guys received an original graphic novel in the mail this week as Jason Copland’s Full Tilt campaign was fulfilled.

The guys talked what they could about X-Men ’97 and Greg discussed a documentary on Netflix titled The Program.

Enjoy the show. Tell your friends. And be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 487: WrestleMania Returns

WrestleMania season is my favorite time of year. This week on the podcast, I’m talking about a few of my favorite WrestleMania returns after a long hiatus from the event. Some Superstars in the conversation include ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper, and Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat.

Nerds United 361: The 90s Had the Best Movies

Let’s just say it now and get the heat out of the way…the 1990s was rich in movies. It was the dawn of the independent movie and still had plenty of big budget blockbusters. This week, Greg and Mike continue the series of giving each other movies which the other has to “save” their favorites.

Also, The Crow remake, Venom 3, and the X-Men ’97 showrunner parting ways with Disney+ less than two weeks before the series debuts.

Also, for the benefit of the viewers on YouTube, a couple brief cameos.

Be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 486: Expressive For The Express

The U.S. Express, Barry Windham, and Mike Rotundo have been announced for the 2024 WWE Hall of Fame. For one, I am excited to hear this announcement. I share a few memories of the team and the men behind them in a short podcast version.

Nerds United 360: The DC Version of “Keep Five”

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike are back and are talking about DC movies. Mike and Greg each chose 15 DC movies for the other to review and determine which five need to be kept and which ones can be dumped.

Mike did Greg dirty. The options Greg was given were largely horrible movies (with a few exceptions). Greg tried to find different titles and improve the overall quality of the movies provided.

That’s not all the guys talked about. Greg cleaned out some space to organize his comic books and here’s what he pulled out of a bedroom closet:

Whilst cleaning and organizing, Greg did find a coveted comic book. He looked in every box until he found…

A couple trailers were dropped recently for a movie and a series that are based on wildly popular video games.

First – Borderlands:

Second – Fallout:

The guys talked a little bit about Aquaman 2 after watching it on Max finally. You know what that means..

Next week: DUNE! (Not Dune 2, no one has time for that.)

Also next week, since we’ve picked Marvel movies, DC movies, and 80s movies, we’re going to choose 5 movies from the 90s to preserve.

As always…

Be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 485: The Hall of Fame

The Hall of Fame ceremony has become a staple of WrestleMania Week, and it’s one of my favorite things about this time of year. This week on the podcast, Chad and Kevin break down the event and talk about some of the ceremonies they’ve attended.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 484: Sting’s Last Match

Sting has been a huge part of pro wrestling for nearly 40 years. On March 3, 2024, he’s wrestling his last match. This week on the podcast, Chad Smart and I look back at some of Sting’s highlights and talk about others who should have had a big sendoff for their career.

Nerds United 359: You Can Only Keep 5…Marvel Movies Edition

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike discuss the Marvel movies and like the 80’s movies a week ago, select a pre-determined number to “save.” That is, all others go away, which ones do you keep?

Mike makes it very difficult on Greg. Greg makes it significantly easier on Mike.

Also, rumors about a Plastic Man movie are intriguing, not that it’s the first tertiary DC character we would think to migrate to the big screen. And do you agree that for Star Wars fans to come together, the movies will need to leave the Skywalker name behind them?

Be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 483: Authority Figures

It’s Presidents Day, and we’re celebrating with a look at authority figures in modern-day wrestling. Should Tony Khan take a more hands-on-camera role with AEW? Chad Smart and I discuss this.

A friend of the show, Kevin McCleery, lost everything in a recent house fire. A GoFundMe is set up, but if you’d rather donate a figure or two to his young son, let me know. Click here for the GoFundMe. Thanks!

Nerds United 358: Make Mine Marvel-ous

On Nerds United this week, Mike and Greg are excited to recap the week of expected and unexpected trailer releases.

We talked last week about how we anticipated some sort of trailer for the Deadpool movie during the Super Bowl, and did Ryan Reynolds deliver. We also received a trailer for X-Men ’97 which hits Disney+ in a month.

Trailers also dropped this week for a couple of ape-based movies. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

Greg finally watched The Marvels and had some thoughts.

And two guys born in the 1980s discuss some movies from that decade.

As always…be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 482: What If Taylor Dated A Wrestler?

Taylor Swift has been big business for the NFL, but what if Taylor dated a WWE, AEW, or TNA star instead of Travis Kelce? How would the companies have handled it? Would Swifties flock to the WWE Universe? Chad Smart (who has attended four Taylor Swift concerts) joins me for the discussion.

Nerds United 357: DC/Marvel Team-Ups

On this episode of Nerds United, Mike and Greg have a good time making superhero team-ups of Marvel and DC characters. From Deadpool to a demon, Captain America to Zatanna, see what pairings the guys made from blind lists.

Also, all signs indicate that James Gunn has his Supergirl. The guys discuss the likely premiere of a Deadpool trailer on the Super Bowl telecast. Greg got some comics and the gents discussed the merits of the Dungeons and Dragons movie while talking about the graphic novel series Die.

We’ll see you next time, and as always…

Be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 481: Wrestling Under the Influence

Bayley has officially punched her ticket to WrestleMania 40 and will be facing Iyo Sky for the WWE Women’s Championship. This week on the podcast, some thoughts on Bayley and a toast to her career over a can of beer called Big Hugs by Half Acre Brewing in Chicago.

Nerds United 356: Reacher & Other Shows

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike talk a little bit about comics and movies and mostly about shows they have been enjoying, like the second season of Reacher on Prime Video.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 480: Royal Rumble Ramblings

The 2024 Royal Rumble is behind us, and we’re on the Road to WrestleMania with a stop coming up at the Elimination Chamber. This week, a few thoughts on the event and some of the behind-the-scenes drama at WWE.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 479: No Hulkamania

For 40 years now, Hulkamania has been running wild. Hulk Hogan won the WWF Championship on January 23, 1984. But what if Hulk Hogan never existed?

This week on the podcast, Kevin shares six wrestlers he thinks could have been the face of the WWF in the mid-80s. Chad critiques the list. It’s big fun.

Nerds United 355: The Disney+ MCU Shows and Winter Activities

This week on Nerds United, Mike and Greg discuss the Marvel Cinematic Universe shows that have premiered on Disney+. From WandaVision to Echo, excluding the Groot series and the one-episode specials (sorry Werewolf and GotG), ranking the eight shows from Phase 4 and the four from Phase 5 from 1-10 and building an aggregate score from there.

Also, Greg finished Krampus and really enjoyed it (research needs to be done to see if there will be more to the story) and the guys shared the movies and shows that they watched.

Reacher wrapped up its second season this week. That’s some quality programming right there. And Greg is going to start cutting loose some of his streaming apps.

Lastly, it’s winter. In our area, we’ve had a week where the high temperature has barely touched the freezing mark and a lot of wind chills in the negative range. So we spend a few minutes blind-ranking winter activities. Mike thinks this may lead to a new post on tiktok…and it might. Who knows?

As always…be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 478: Ask My 1-2-3 Cents

Nerds United 354: 2024 Will Be Busy

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike look forward to several works hitting the public arenas in 2024.

  • Masters of the Universe: Revolution
  • Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
  • Arcane Season 2

And it was announced that some of our favorite Star Wars properties are coming back both on Disney+ and the big screen.

Enjoy the show and as always…

Be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 477: Wrestling Under the Influence

The Honky Tonk Man remains one of my all-time favorites. I’ve even had the great pleasure of meeting him a couple of times. This week, in honor of Elvis’ birthday, I’m drinking a beer called Fat Elvis by 4 Hands Brewing Company and watching one of my favorite HTM matches against ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage, from the October 1987 Saturday Night’s Main Event.

By the way, you can check out the HTM podcast interview right here.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 476: Movie Mania

We’re starting 2024 off with a movie review. Over the past week, Chad Smart and I have both seen The Iron Claw and offer our thoughts on this biopic. Have you seen it? What did you think?

Nerds United 353: Bring on the New Year

This week on Nerds United, the Greg and Mike finish off the year by doing some more reading, as both guys are enjoying various stages of DC’s Knights of Steel.

Christmas tales were shared, and Brayden was missed (his recent appearance practically doubled the viewership/listenership). Beers were enjoyed, and the guys talked about the year that was and all the things they didn’t get the chance to see.

Then some time was spent talking up 2024 and all that it has to offer. Long story short, we have varying degrees of excitement for the comic book projects headed to screens in the next year.

We hope your 2024 is happy and healthy and as always…

Be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 475: The Christmas Show

Merry Christmas! It is the Christmas Episode of the podcast. It’s a short and sweet list of gifts I’d give to a handful in the wrestling business. Let me know what you’d gift this year.

Nerds United 352: Very Special Christmas Special – Top Five Christmas Songs

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike are joined by a special guest (we’ll call him the “Guest Host of the Year”), Mike’s nephew Brayden.

Brayden told Uncle Mike that all he wanted for Christmas was to do a guest shot on the podcast. Greg told him to aim higher.

With no comic book consumption to speak of, the guys dove into some fun Christmas topics. First we hear Greg and Mike’s Top 5 Christmas songs. Then, all three are put to the test with blind ranking Christmas movies. That’s where the cover photo comes from. And trust us…the episode is necessary to understand the image.

Merry Christmas, and as always…

Be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 474: My Favorite Santas

Santa Claus has been a big part of the wrestling scene for decades. This week, I share my six favorite moments involving the jolly ol’ elf in the wrestling ring. And yes, I realized I said Episode 774 after the fact.

Nerds Untied 351: Our Top 5 Santa’s

This week, the guys are talking about their favorite Santa Clauses. From all eras and all mediums, which Santa’s are toasts of the town?

Who did we miss?

As always…be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 473: The Festivus Episode

Festivus is an official holiday that Chad Smart and I have decided to observe this year on the podcast. We’re airing a few wrestling-related grievances as 2023 nears an end. What is something you’d like to change about the business in 2024?

Please leave a review and send me a screenshot of it! Check out My 1-2-3 Cents on social media: Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (@my123cents). Also, head over to the My 1-2-3 Cents Facebook group. Nerds United 350: The Best (and Worst) of Marvel

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike discuss the regular chit chat and discuss some comic book acquisitions. There’s even an fun story about buckling up some comics to keep them safe on the road (check out the YouTube video for that).

Teaser trailer for The Boys season 4 as well as a rippin’ trailer for the next Godzilla/Kong movie. And will pop culture media outlets ever stop posting on-set spoilers? Ryan Reynolds wishes they would.

Now since Mike has seen The Marvels, and since some Screen Rant or other outlet published an article claiming there are ten Marvel projects worse than The Marvels, Greg puts Mike to the test, runs down the list, and asks Mike if he agrees with the author’s assessment.

Lastly, the guys share their Top Five non-MCU Marvel Movie Moments. Movies like The Hulk, the Fantastic Four (and Fant4stic), the X-Men franchises, etc. Which scenes make the cut?

As always…

Be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 472: Sting’s Last (WWE) Match

Sting will have his last match in March 2024 at AEW Revolution. However, I’m fantasy booking the Stinger’s last match at WrestleMania 40 this week. Let me know what you think of the six opponents I have in mind for the icon.

Nerds United 349: Futures of Spider-Man and Supernatural Remain Unclear

This week on Nerds United, Mike and Greg get together for what they think is a short episode (SPOILER: It’s still almost an hour) and while they don’t have a formal “main topic,” they do spend some time on some news and notes.

For example…does Tom Holland need creative control of the next Spider-Man movie? Or would the studio re-cast him if they have a script that he doesn’t like?

The stars of Supernatural tease a possible future for the longest running sci-fi/fantasy series in the history of American television. That’s mostly unfortunate, really, as the show went on about nine years too long as it was.

There’s a really solid trailer for the Furiosa movie.

Greg finally read DC’s Dark Knights of Steel Vol. 1 (with volume 2 available later this month). It’s really good and it should be in Mike’s hands later this week.

Get some updates on what’s going on in the guys’ lives. For example, the night we recorded, Greg took his family to the world famous St. Louis Zoo for their Wild Lights event. And Mike finally has a safe vehicle to drive to and from the gym.

As always…be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 471: Music Mania

Music has been a big part of wrestling for decades, and now that WWE and AEW are using licensed music for some entrances, it’s conjuring up nostalgia.

Over the weekend, we saw CM Punk return to the Survivor Series, but before we saw him, we heard that first scratch of Cult of Personality, and the crowd went nuts. This week, Chad Smart and I discuss that moment and our love for music.

A reminder that the 2023 My 1-2-3 Cents Wrestling Figure Drive has started. Drop off wrestling figures now at Castle Perilous Games and Books in Carbondale, Illinois. Or you can Venmo me (Kevin-Hunsperger) or message me to arrange pickup.

Nerds United 348: The Marvels, Blue Beetle, Comics, and Booze

Happy Thanksgiving!

This week on Nerds United, the guys continue the years-long tradition of Turkey Before Turkey.

There was some moderate comic book acquisition in the short week, as Greg shares his pick-ups. And while Greg was getting comics, Mike was at the theater watching The Marvels, so the Co-Host of the Year talks about that movie a bit.

With Blue Beetle’s arrival on MAX, both guys had the chance to watch it, and they gave their thoughts.

We’re thankful for you, and we remind you to be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 470: Ask My 1-2-3 Cents

Ask My 1-2-3 Cents is back and some really good questions for the My 1-2-3 Cents supporters out there. I really do appreciate it. From what commentary teams I’d like to be a part of to what is the worst match I’ve seen in person, there’s lots to talk about this week.

Nerds United 347: MCU’s Essential Viewing (Phases 1-3)

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike admit that neither of them did a ton of reading in the past week. But the guys have plenty to discuss.

Greg finished Under the Dome and while the premise was really interesting at the outset, he found the ending to be a bit lacking.

But Loki’s season finale definitely delivered.

Also, some trailers out there, like the Madam Web movie we forgot about, and the second season of What If. Basically, if you want Marvel done right, leave it to Marvel.

Mike poses an interesting question. If you’re sitting down with someone who hasn’t seen a Marvel movie, but the notion of 30+ movies and tv shows is a bit daunting, where do you start, and what is essential? So the guys break down their essential movies of Marvel’s Phases 1, 2, and 3.

As always…be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 469: Wish List

I’ve been fortunate enough to have attended many live wrestling shows since 1984. Seeing Superstars like Ric Flair, John Cena, Hulk Hogan, and many more has been amazing. However, I have a wish list of individuals I never got the chance to see wrestle live. I share six of them in this week’s Six Cents. Who is on your list?

Nerds United 346: We CAN Read, We Just Didn’t This Week

This week on Nerds Untied, Mike and Greg discuss the season finale of Gen V and the timeline for its end and season four of The Boys. Greg is behind on Loki Season Two but hopes to get caught up in the next few days.

Greg is watching Under the Dome, a show from a decade ago, and was surprised to find in its third season that the culprit is aliens. I mean, aliens?

The guys were surprised this week, as maybe we all were, by a Ghostbusters trailer. Did you see it? It’s pretty rad.

And it doesn’t appear that either of the guys will go see The Marvels in theaters. But movies at home, like Blue Beetle next week on Max, are definitely a possibility.

As always…be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 468: What’s In a Name

It never fails that a debate ensues when a second or third-generation wrestler hits the ring with a name not associated with their famous relative.

The most recent instance occurred with Brian Pillman, Jr., now going by Lexis King in WWE’s NXT. I share my thoughts on the name and others who have decided to take a different track than their famous father.

Nerds United 345: Our Must-See Movies Since the 1980s

This week on the show, Mike and Greg share their top must-see movies from each of the last few decades, back to the 1980s.

Before that part of the show, the guys discuss some comics they have been reading. Gen V wrapped up its first season and at the same time, Invincible Season 2 started on Prime Video as well.

Plus, the guys enjoyed the trailer for Marvel’s Echo and Greg got a little clarification on Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

And do the guys dip their toe into the Snow White controversy?

Well, just a little bit.

Enjoy, and be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 467: Movie Mania

Movie Mania is back for the final Halloween-themed show of 2023. And this one is a doozy. Chad Smart and I are doing a watch along to the film Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 466: Halloween Havoc 90

In the wake of Sting’s retirement announcement, I’ve decided to give the main event of Halloween Havoc another look. Sting defended the WCW World Title against Sid Vicious. It’s the first time Sting defended the belt on pay-per-view.

Nerds United 344: It Was an Honest Mistake

So let’s just get into it. In the course of the discussion, the guys talk about the second season of The Santa Clauses, coming to Disney+ this holiday season. Greg mistakenly said Kumail Nanjiani was in the first season before Mike corrected him, stating it was in fact Kal Penn.

Mike continued to state that the confusion happens so frequently that the stars have addressed it publicly.

Before that part of the show, the guys talk about some of the comics they’ve been reading and the shows they’ve been watching or, in Greg’s case, discovered for the first time.

We’re poised, it would seem, to get some live-action Gargoyles in the future on Disney+.

The end of the show has the guys blind-ranking Halloween candy, which as it turns out, is just candy with a few seasonal additions.

Be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 465: Chamber of Horrors

The Halloween theme continues this week, with a watch along of the awesomely bad Chamber of Horrors match from Halloween Havoc 1991. Have you ever watched it? Join me for it!

Nerds United 343: This Episode is for the Birds

This episode, at least the first ten or fifteen minutes, is dedicated to birds. All the years I’ve known Mike, and I had no idea he was an amateur ornithologist.

After that, we get into some recent comic book acquisitions and books we’ve been reading. Mike is pretty excited for Greg to get his hands on Gideon Falls, a Jeff Lemire graphic novel.

Meanwhile, Greg picked up some DC Knight Terrors tie-ins and hopes to get them read in a timely manner. And Greg binged Beckham in one day this past week. Check out the trailer. If you were alive and cognizant of pop culture in the late 1990s, there’s no way you were able to avoid the David Beckham/Posh Spice mania.

New episodes of Loki and Gen V, but the conversation shifted to horror and Halloween, as Mike determined that most horror movies don’t take place at Halloween, and asked “which movies take place at Halloween.”

The show is wrapped up with blind rankings of Halloween costumes, which we will try to share in short-form video on some of our platforms.

Be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 464: Hollywood and Halloween

Continuing the Halloween theme for the month with a look at some Hollywood horror connections with the world of pro wrestling. There is plenty of ridiculousness, from Chucky to Leatherface to zombies and more.

Nerds United 342: Gen V, Ahsoka, Only Murders, and Comics!

This week on the show, Mike and Greg share their experience of going to the college football game Friday night between the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Illinois Fighting Illini. It was Mike’s first ever college football game, and he’s now a Husker convert.

After telling the tales of Friday night, both Mike and Greg discuss their comic book acquisitions and shows we’ve been watching.

Ahsoka finished up this past week, as did Only Murders in the Building. Meanwhile, Gen V is off to a bloody start on Prime Video.

As always…be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 463: Scary Wrestlers

Nerds United 341: Netflix’ WRESTLERS with Kevin Hunsperger

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike are joined by another longtime voice from the Jittery Monkey Podcast Network.

Kevin Hunsperger, the host of My 1-2-3 Cents, sits in to discuss the Netflix docuseries WRESTLERS. If you’re not aware, WRESTLERS is a seven-episode series on Netflix that focuses on Ohio Valley Wrestling, both the names and faces in the ring and in the office.

And as an added bonus, the guys give Kevin a blind rank of wrestling finish maneuvers.

As always, be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 462: Ask My 1-2-3 Cents

Nerds United 340: Blind Rank X-Men Movies and More

This time around on the ol Nerds United podcast, Mike and Greg discuss recent comic book acquisitions and what they’ve read. Gargoyles, Booster Gold, Man Thing, Astro City, Dark Knights of Steel, Once and Future, We Live, and a couple of characters, maybe you’ve heard of them, Batman and the Joker.

Then the duo discussed the Percy Jackson and the Olympians reboot heading to Disney+ later this year. Is that a show you’re excited to see? Let us know in the comments.

Then the guys went on to blind rank some stuff. First they did blind rankings of X-Men movies. Now for this, it wasn’t just movies with X-Men in the title, but any movie with an X-Man in it (and one that was tangentially included).

And then a couple of guys who like food blind rank breakfast noms.

…as a 41 year old man, it feels weird typing out “noms.”

Be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 461: Masked Wrestlers We Knew

Masked wrestlers are typically a mystery. There are a handful of wrestlers through the years who donned a mask, but we, as fans, knew exactly who it was. So, special guest Lucha Dad is sharing his six favorites with a new edition of Six Cents.

Nerds United 339: Exercise and Aquaman

This week on Nerds United, the guys face the stunning realization that Greg is out of shape. Mike is a stud who goes to the gym but also likes food. Greg likes food and doesn’t go to the gym. You see the problem.

So the guys talk a little bit about vegetables. Honestly, I think they talk more about vegetables than either of them actually eat vegetables.

So what books did the guys have the chance to read this week? And what shows have they been enjoying?

Is the ongoing Hollywood strike to blame for our lack of content? We think so.

And speaking of Hollywood, WB finally gave us a trailer for Aquaman 2. It feels like a great continuation to a movie that made over a billion dollars at the global box office…but will anyone care?

Nerds United 338: Catching Up and Marvel/DC Hero Blind Rankings

Well, Nerds United is back after a few weeks. We’ll call it Greg’s Sabbatical.

We were quite derelict in the meantime as far as putting topics on social media. So we doubled down and did not one but TWO blind rankings. We did DC heroes and Marvel heroes.

We hope you enjoy the show and as always…

Be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 460: Stride Top 10

Tyler ‘Heath’ Hatton and Kevin Hunsperger are back for an all-new podcast. This week, they’re discussing the top 10 wrestlers in the history of Stride Pro Wrestling. Who is on your list?

It’s Labor Day, and what better way to celebrate than with a new feature on the podcast called Six Cents and looking at my favorite occupational wrestling gimmicks?  I’m throwing out my six favorites this week, from Britt Baker, DMD, to the Big Bossman.  Weigh in with your six favorites as well!

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 458: Remembering Terry Funk and Bray Wyatt

The wrestling world is reeling after two greats died this past week. On Wednesday, WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk died at 79. Then, just a day later, fans were rocked by the sudden death of Bray Wyatt. He was just 36 years old.

This week, Chad Smart and I pay tribute to both men and share memories of each.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 457: Wrestling With Addiction

Addiction is a problem that plagues the world of professional wrestling. We’ve seen lives destroyed both in and out of the ring. Recently, WWE Hall of Famer Sunny was in the news after being involved in a fatal DUI crash last year. The jokes and the memes that followed were horrible, in my opinion, and I’m ranting about it this week.

Nerds United 337: Comic Books and Comic Book Movies

Holy schnikes! This episode has Greg and Mike in the same room! Relive the glory days as the duo records from Studio A, aka Greg’s kitchen table.

This week, the guys go off the rails a little bit and discuss all sorts of odd topics. But eventually they cycle back to discussing comic books and comic book movies, superhero movie fatigue, and if the MCU is repeating mistakes made by its comic book partner.

And…if you didn’t know…we’re on TikTok. And Greg has no idea what that means.

Enjoy your week and as always…

Be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 456: ‘Cowboy’ Bob Appreciation

‘Cowboy’ Bob Orton is a legend in pro wrestling and someone I’ve had the good fortune to meet on more than one occasion. This week, I’m just doing a shoutout to the WWE Hall of Fame and recounting my memories of Orton in and out of the ring.

Nerds United 336: Blind Rankings of DC Villains and a LOT of Comics

This week on Nerds United, Mike and Greg have some laughs by blind-ranking DC villains.

But first, Greg gives his massive list of comics he has acquired and read and Mike shares the one he finished.

A few anecdotes and recapping a trip to Meramec Caverns in Missouri and then we’re off and running!

As always, the guys remind you to be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 455: 2 Is Greater Than 1

Tyler ‘Heath’ Hatton and I have been friends for a long time. But he’s been a pro wrestler even longer. This week on the podcast, he explains how his tryout with WWE came about so many years ago.

Nerds United 335: Building the Next Avengers

Howdy pardner!

This week on Nerds United, Mike and Greg take existing and/or announced MCU characters and draft their own Avengers teams.

Are there any surprises along the way? You betcha!

Also the guys are pretty pumped about the second season of Loki. And the guys had a lot of really nice things to say about Twisted Metal, available in its entirety on Peacock!

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 454: IC Title History

The Intercontinental Championship has a long and rich history in WWE. Very soon, that history could be rewritten as current IC Champion Gunther is on the verge of breaking the Honky Tonk Man’s record as the longest-reigning champ. It’s a record that was set 35 years ago. This week, I discuss the possibility of that happening and why I don’t think that’s a good idea.

Nerds United 334: Concerts!

This week on Nerds United, the guys review what they’ve watched, from The Flash (SPOILERS) to Transformers: Rise of the Beasts to some shows, like Twisted Metal.

There are a few notes on some news tidbits. But the bulk of the episode is about concerts, including some of the musical acts we’ve seen.

At the end of the show, the guys fantasy book their ideal concert. Hear what acts Mike and Greg would love to see in a day if they were able, if things like money and death were no object.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 453: Ask My 1-2-3 Cents

There was no shortage of great questions for this week’s Ask My 1-2-3 Cents. From my thoughts on AEW in Chicago to manager Harvey Wippleman’s impact, I had a lot of fun on this week’s show. Thank you to everyone who asked a question.

Nerds United 333: Ranking the Mission Impossible Movies

This week on Nerds United, Mike and Greg rank the six Mission Impossible movies that have been out for more than a week (no Dead Reckoning Vol. 1). But before that, the guys go on a trip through what they have watched and read. There’s talk about what heaven may be like, though no one knows for sure.

There’s news about the Hollywood strike and Netflix cancelling the planned live-action He-Man project, into which they had already sunk $30,000,000. And the wait for more Futurama is just about over as new episodes hit Hulu on Monday.

But at the end, Tom Talk takes over as the guys rank the first six Mission Impossible movies. It’s almost an impossible task.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 452: Wrestling Under the Influence

It’s National Ice Cream Day, and we’re celebrating with Wrestling Under the Influence. The beer of choice is Ice Cream Daze Mint Chocolate Chip Stout by Main and Mill Brewing, and a chat about WWF Ice Cream Bars.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 451: Christmas In July

It’s Christmas in July, and the My 1-2-3 Cents Wrestling Figure Drive is starting early this year. There is a collection bin at Castle Perilous in Carbondale, Illinois. You can also purchase wrestling action figures and ship them to me (ask me for my address) or Venmo me, and I’ll do some shopping on your behalf.

I started this collection drive in 2018 thanks to the Major Wrestling Figure Podcast. As a result, we’ve collected hundreds of toys (I didn’t keep a good record). In memory of my mom, who died last month, I hope to collect 300 action figures this year, a record for this effort.

Nerds United 332: Mike Went to El Paso but Didn’t Listen to the Song

This week on Nerds United, Mike regales us with tales of his recent trip to El Paso, Texas, and how you definitely do not want to have to drive there if you can avoid it.

What have the guys read or watched in the past week? And what headlines made the cut to discuss?

As always…be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 450: Patriotism in Pro Wrestling

Patriotism has been a staple in pro wrestling for many years. This week, Chad Smart and I talk more about this and remember the life and times of one of wrestling’s biggest patriots, the Iron Sheik.

Nerds United 331: Let’s Reboot the CW-Verse

It’s not even cold yet, but this week, Greg and Mike are picking some characters that, if they were given control of CW, they’d use to rebuild the CW-Verse.

Meanwhile, it was announced this week that James Gunn has his Superman and Lois Lane. And Mike may not be a professional wrestler, but he could pass for one. What would a good ring name be for Mike?

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 449: Tag Team Wrestling

I love tag team wrestling. Back in the 80s, we were lucky to have so many amazing teams. Even today, there’s a resurgence of tag teams. So, after finding a meme, I got inspired to do an episode on tag team wrestling, with listeners having me choose between two teams.

And as a bonus, we did it all in longform video mode, so check it out on YouTube.

And as always…be kind.

Nerds United 329: Lost Realms with Joe Dodd and Justin Holman

This week on Nerds United, Greg sits down with a couple of past guests who are also really good friends, Joe Dodd and Justin Holman. These two creators have gone rogue and are working on what they call the next evolution of comic books, a CYOA of sorts in the digital space known as Discord, where they work in tandem with an online community to build Lost Realms, a fantasy story with dragons, elves, and purple lady trolls. The community has a lot of input on the story as Joe will sit and sketch their ideas. Justin then takes the work and inks it.

Greg learns about web3, Discord, and other 21st Century terminology. Hear about how two guys with plenty of bona fides (#Marvel, #DC, #Hasbro) are betting on themselves in this endeavor, while Justin is also the lead writer for Dimensionals.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 448: Wrestling Under the Influence

Nerds United 328: Take Us Out to the Ball Game Sports Movie

This time around on Nerds United, Mike and Greg take a look at some memorable moments in sports movies.

Before we do, we want to remind you to head over to www.zoop.gg/c/fulltilt and support our friend Jason Copland and his book Full Tilt. You have just a few days left to support that campaign.

Nerds United 327: Jason Copland and Full Tilt

It’s time for a new episode, a new issue, as it were. It’s Wednesday, recognized as New Comic Book Day in most parts of the world. So why not spend this episode talking about a new comic book from an old friend.

Jason Copland is back on the show. You may remember him from Episode 83 where he talked about Kill All Monsters. But this time around, we’re talking about the project that Jason spent the last five years of his life building. He took a chance, bet on himself, and created Full Tilt.

In this episode, we’ll discuss Full Tilt, from its inception to its story. It’s a mob noir set in the 23rd century, and while it will have familiar elements, Jason says this story is really about loyalty and love.

Check out the episode, and be sure to check out the crowd-funding campaign.

https://zoop.gg/c/fulltilt

Jason’s less than $1,000.00 away from another stretch goal.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 445: Wrestling Under the Influence

At one time, the bear hug was a great submission move used in professional wrestling. Today, I look at the hold and pair it up with a beer called Beer Hug by Goose Island Brewing. What are your thoughts on this seemingly forgotten hold?

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 444: Remembering ‘Superstar’ Billy Graham

‘Superstar’ Billy Graham was one of the most influential wrestlers in the history of the business, setting a standard that countless others have tried to keep up with. Sadly, Graham died last week at the age of 79. This week, writer and friend of mine, Ryan K. Boman, joins me to remember the WWE Hall of Famer. (Check out Ryan’s social media here.)

This week on Nerds United, Mike and Greg take a look back over the last five years and decide their favorite rewatchable movies.  They also discuss the news and notes of the week and talk about the content coming off of Disney+ and Hulu, a board game based on a graphic novel about a board game, and new Hellboy.

Enjoy and as always, be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 443: The Match That Never Happened

I’ve had the good fortune to have several wrestling matches. But this week, I’m talking about one match that was supposed to happen but never did. Who was my opponent supposed to be? Farmer Billy Hills.

Nerds United 325: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Review

This week on Nerds United, Mike and Greg provide a thorough review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 since Greg was able to view it this past week.

Since last week’s recording, Greg made it to Free Comic Book Day and shares his haul with Mike. Also, we have a mini-celebration for Jim Lee’s promotion at DC Comics.

Enjoy, and as always, Be Kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 442: Wrestling With Royalty

Over the weekend, the world watched as King Charles was officially coronated. That move got me thinking about all the kings who have come through the world of professional wrestling. I talk about a few of my favorites and share a now-10-year-old interview that I did with WWE Hall of Famer Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler.

Nerds United 324: We Won’t Go on Strike

This week’s show focuses largely on the Writers Guild strike, where something like 11,000 writers have put their pencils down in hopes of restructuring their compensation in regards to streaming content as well as making sure studios don’t utilize artificial intelligence for writing shows and movies.

But the strike has halted some shows, like Blade and interrupted shooting on other believed Marvel projects. However some are moving forward as scheduled, including Deadpool 3, LOTR: The Rings of Power, and Thunderbolts.

Meanwhile, there are rumors to who would play Reed Richards and Sue Storm in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. And the guys take a shot at who should play Silver Surfer if that character is in the movie.

Mike also saw Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and gave a few thoughts on it that are completely spoiler-free. Seriously.

As always, be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 441: Confessions of a FORMER Ring Announcer

I’ve talked about it before, but now it’s official, I am no longer a part of Stride Pro Wrestling. But please, put down the pitchforks and torches, and don’t go after Sam Hunter. This was a decision I made a while ago, and it’s now playing out for wrestling fans to see. I go into greater detail in this week’s episode.

Nerds United 323: From Sweet Tooth to Sweet Tooth

And a whole lot in between.

This week, the guys reconvene after Greg was out of town last week. Hear about that hilarious tale of misfortune and woe. Greg hasn’t been able to read too much this past week, but Mike has two books going.

Meanwhile, the guys enjoyed various shows and movies, from Mike watching an Academy Award-winning film to Greg sitting through Ryan Reynold’s not least-favorite movie.

Also, Ted Lasso had one of its best episodes of the season this past week, Greg is watching Star Wars Rebels and has finally got to the point where they’ve brought in Admiral Thrawn. Mike was about five episodes in to season two of Sweet Tooth and the guys are pretty pumped for The Flash.

Enjoy and Be Kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 440: Wrestling Under the Influence

Nerds United 322: Recorded Late on a Saturday Night

We had some severe weather in the area Saturday evening and it wreaked havoc on Greg’s laptop, so we got started a little later than we had hoped.

What that means for you is that we pared the episode down a little bit and brought you only the essential news. That is, of course, after updates on what we read and watched this week.

Hear about what Star Wars is doing, as well as Deadpool 3, Harry Potter, and The Big Bang Theory. And we briefly discuss the trailer for Marvels.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 438: Going Viral

Perhaps the title of this week’s show is a bit cocky, but it has been an insane week regarding my story about getting kicked out of WrestleMania. And yes, I was kicked out. But there’s more to the story; I share that and all the media attention my TikTok has received. This should be the saga’s final chapter, much to the delight of most people who know me.

Nerds United 321: Let’s All Go to the Movies

This week on Nerds United:

Well, it was a week movie and series trailers. The guys will talk about (in no particular order because I can’t remember the order in which we discussed them):

  • Ahsoka
  • Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
  • Secret Invasion
  • Blue Beetle
  • Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
  • Barbie

Also, more Star Wars is headed our way. Greg took a trip to the movie theater with 40% of the rest of his family. Both guys got some comics and read some comics.

And next week…Josh Brolin!

Well, we’ll discuss Josh Brolin’s recent interview comments about Jonah Hex. He didn’t enjoy the experience, but Greg dug the movie.

As always…

Be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 437: WrestleMania Recap

WrestleMania 39 is in the books, and what a great weekend it was. Chad Smart and I attended both nights, marking our 10th trip to this iconic event. We share our thoughts on the weekend, including my first trip to Wrestling Pro Wrestling.

Nerds United 320: Roadtrips and Reading Comics

This week on Nerds United, Mike and Greg are back at it after Greg was on vacation last week. Hear about how the trip almost ended in disaster. Also, Mike is getting a promotion. Not from Co-Host of the Year but in hos actual place of employment. Also – how does one improve on Co-Host of the Year?

The guys read some comics and had a lot of good things to say. Hear about Suicide Squad, The Vision, and some X-Men.

Meanwhile, there have been some good shows on that the guys have enjoyed and they try to share that information with you.

It was storming the night the duo recorded, but the plan is to get together for a show in the not-too-distant future.

In the meantime, be kind.

My 1-2-3 Cents Episode 436: WrestleMania IV Recall

It’s hard to believe, but 35 years ago today, WrestleMania IV went down. This show, panned by many, is unique. It’s the first WrestleMania to feature a tournament. It’s the first Mania that Hulk Hogan didn’t wrestle in the main event and was the first Mania for many Superstars, including Ted DiBiase, Rick Rude, and The Ultimate Warrior.

This week on the podcast, I stroll down memory lane with my take on WrestleMania IV and a look ahead to this year’s WrestleMania, which is just a few days away.

Nerds United 319: Saturday Morning Cartoons All Grown Up

This week on Nerds United, the guys will cap a show discussing the new Bedrock series announced starring Elizabeth Banks and Stephen Root. It will follow a 20-something Pebbles and Bam Bam.

So Mike asked “what continuation if a classic cartoon would you like it see” and then absolutely nails some pitches (take note, Hollywood).

The guys also talk about Lord of the Rings, Ben Affleck, Sweet Tooth, and NEW COMICS!

We’ll see you in two weeks.

Be kind.
